After investigating the case, the Investigations Office has concluded that the police officers who fired acted in self-defense and have abandoned the case as no crime was proven. The case against the dog handler has also been dropped on the same basis, and for the other police officers the conclusion is that no crime is considered proven.
The task force believes that it is highly likely that some of the shots fired by the man would have hit the police if the action vehicle had not been armored.
“As the situation developed, the Office concluded that the action could not have been prevented by more lenient means,” the decision states.
The man’s defender, Knut Lerum, informs NRK that he has seen the suspension of the Bureau of Investigation.
– I have read the suspension and have some ideas about the behavior of the police. But I keep them to myself. I have no particular comment on the suspension beyond that, he says.
