Has received threats

Halvor Egner Granerud has become a “hot potato” in Poland after an interview he gave yesterday to TV 2.

The statements he made in the interview were interpreted as a “lack of respect” to the great star of Poland, Kamil Stoch.

The last 24 hours have been windy around Granerud. And at a digital press conference in Austria tonight, he admitted that he has received threats:

– The most unpleasant comments I have received are the ones I have to attend to when I go to Zakopane in a week and a half. I don’t think about any of that, says Granerud, who is in third place in Hoppuka’s summary.

Threats have reached social media.

– When did you realize it started to take off?

– I was on Twitter a little later in the afternoon yesterday. I went to “reviews”. There were probably 20 pretty harsh comments in the last five minutes. Then I realized that something had happened, says the jumping star.

- sorry

– sorry

In the interview, Granerud expressed that the Poles have been luckier than him with the wind conditions around Hoppuka. He also said that “Stoch doesn’t jump that damn well, but he’s gotten good results.”

In Poland, only Bayern Munich player Robert Lewandowski is bigger than Stoch.

“Unfortunately, there are many on social media who cross the line,” says coach Alexander Stöckl.

– But in the vast majority of cases, there is an emotional statement there and then. When you meet people in person, it’s a different scenario, the coach believes.

– What will it be like to go to Zakopane in mid-January?

– I think there will be no problem, says Granerud.

– In Zakopane, there are many guards and security everywhere. But there are no interesting messages to see in your inbox.

Granerud’s girlfriend has also received nasty messages in the last 24 hours.

– How is she now?

– After I said it, the messages changed and she received a lot of nice messages from the Poles. She really appreciates it. It was awkward and strange for him to receive messages for things he had done. But then she thought it was great to get messages of support later. I think it was reported in the Polish media that she too had received her share of the coup.

At tonight’s digital press conference, it was clear that Marius Lindvik is ready again for the final Hoppuka race at Bischofshofen on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old had to have his wisdom tooth removed at a clinic in Innsbruck, but he feels healthy enough to jump again.

In short, Kamil Stoch leads ahead of his compatriot Dawid Kubacki. Granerud, in third place, has 20.6 points to face Stoch if he wants to win.
