– A game of chance, says Bent Svele, TV 2 handball expert, about the decision.

The European Handball Federation has decided that Serbia will participate in the European Championship, so the Serbs will play the postponed match against the Netherlands on Saturday night.

This is confirmed in an EHF press release on Saturday morning.

Kristina Graovac and Marija Agbaba tested positive for the crown after arriving in Kolding, but when the rest of the team tested negative on Saturday morning, they were allowed to play.

The postponed match against the Netherlands begins like this at 8.30 pm on Saturday night, after Norway has faced Germany in the same room.

– A game of chance

TV 2 handball expert Bent Svele, who on Friday argued that the Serbs should be sent home from the championship, is skeptical of the decision and is now excited about the continuation.

– I will be surprised if there is no more contagion in the squad, considering the incubation time it is, but now they only get to play, then we will see how it goes, Svele tells Nettavisen.

He is aware that the European Handball Federation is taking a risk by leaving the Serbs in Group C, with the Netherlands, Croatia and Hungary.

– I stick to what I said yesterday. This is a game of chance, but by now you have probably concluded that it is the right thing to do. Now we will see a week, if it is correct, says Svele.

He made it to the European Championship the day before the game.

The troubles surrounding the Serbs began when the team decided to arrive in Kolding just one day before facing reigning world champion Holland in the opening match on Friday.

When goalkeeper Kristina Graovac tested positive after landing at Billund Airport on Thursday, she was placed in isolation while the rest of the team was quarantined. The game against the Netherlands was postponed one day.

On Friday, however, word came that another Serbian player, Marija Agbaba, had tested positive for the virus.

Since the Serbs’ meeting with the Netherlands was moved from Friday to Saturday, both teams must now play two days in a row.
