Granerud secured victory with a cannon jump in the final round and won with elimination figures.
The Norwegian jumper was number four before the final round, but had a short way to the podium. Even the leader, Markus Eisenbichler, however, was a piece.
But a 142-meter jump and a shot that the judges couldn’t pull much of, saw Granerud outperform the rest of the small jump.

Thus, he beat Eisenbichler by almost ten points and secured his first victory in the World Cup.
Eliminated last season
It was an excited Granerud who met NRK after the victory.
– There is a lot of work behind. It’s completely raw. Last season was incredibly black. Coming back to get to this, it’s so good, Granerud managed to say before his voice cracked for a few seconds.
Because last year, few had thought that it would be Halvor Egner Granerud who would be on the top of the podium in a World Cup race.
– When you fight to get on the podium in the Norwegian Cup and nothing is right. Everything you do is the exact opposite of what you are trying to do, so you have to be a little crazy to believe it.
– What was it like to see the one on the blackboard?
– It was completely unreal. Absolutely crude, Granerud said.

– Incredibly deserved
The 24-year-old was also acclaimed by both his teammates and the coach after the victory.
– I have seen how it has worked during the past season and this summer. He has dared to be patient and is now in the shape of his life. It’s incredibly deserved, says Robert Johansson.
Aleksander Stöckl had a difficult day yesterday. First, he had to see how Daniel-André Tande was taken to an ambulance. Then the coach of the national team made a mistake that made Johann André Forfang unable to skip the second half.
– It’s fantastic. Especially after yesterday, where everything went in the wrong direction. And finally, Granerud deserves to be on top, says Stöckl.
He is full of praise for the Granerud restructuring operation.
– It is nice to see when an athlete trusts himself and does not give up. He has been willing to stick with the concept that he has created. When you get it this way in the end, it’s absolutely amazing.
