Halvor Egner Granerud (24) is in second place and is on the shooting team for the gold ahead of Saturday’s two decisive jumps at the World Ski Flying Championships.
He is only 4.6 points behind German leader Karl Geiger.
– It’s good that Halvor is in attack position before Saturday’s final jump, says Johan Remen Evensen as an NRK expert.
Robert Johansson is number five and also in contention for the medal.
German Markus Eisenbichler jumped 247 meters in his second jump. Granerud in the start number then achieved a lower speed than Eisenbichler and had to wait many minutes for the organizer to clear the approach and then for conditions to be good enough to jump.
However, Halvor Egner Granerud did 229.5 meters in much worse conditions than the German. So he got ahead of Eisenbichler after two jumps.
– He’s cold. Take a big leap under those circumstances, says coach Alexander Stöckl on the NRK broadcast.
– I’m impressed by your stability.
Karl Geiger led after the first round with Austrian Michael Hayböck in second place.
Robert Johansson jumped 220 meters in the first half and rose to 228.5 meters in the second half. Daniel-André Tande had 203 and 218.5 meters in his two jumps. Give 14th place after the first day.
Sander Vossan Eriksen is completely new as a ski rider, but he jumped hard at 207 and 208 meters.
