Mold – Bodø / Glimt 4-2

There is still a big gap with Bodø / Glimt reigning at the top of the table, but at Aker Stadion Molde they secured three important points in the battle for silver.

Bodø / Glimt have not lost in Norwegian soccer since December 1, 2019. Molde then celebrated league gold by beating league runner-up Glimt 4-2. That was before the crown hit the world and before Glimt rocked the elite series.

Hauge on the bench when Ibrahimovic scored two

In this year’s season, the team had recorded 18 wins and 2 draws before Saturday’s meeting with Molde. When it first raked, it really did. Four setbacks, all of very simple variety, gave victory to the league runner-up.

– It was the night of personal mistakes, and then we can’t win in that arena here. We win together and we lose together, coach Kjetil Knutsen told Dplay.

Glimt-Keeper Nikita Khajkin took the blame for two of the goals.

– First of all, I want to apologize for the two goals, it is my responsibility and I disappointed my team. But it will make me stronger, Khajkin said.

He took the initiative, but lost it immediately

Bodø / Glimt took the lead in the usual way, after scoring from a Sebastian Tounekti without pressure. Then Molde put aside all respect for the residents of Bodø, who have so far completely dominated in this year’s Elite Series. Magnus Wolff Eikrem responded immediately and tied on a one-line save from Brede Moe.

Just before the break, the ball was back in the net, this time after an icy Ohi Omoijuanfo arrived alone with the goalkeeper. The home team could thus go to the dressing room with the management.

– We let in for easy goals, Glimt’s coach Kjetil Knutsen complained to Dplay during the break. He was probably even more frustrated when the match started again.

A few minutes were played when Molde again surprised the yellow jerseys. Eirik Hestad picked up a clumsy pass attempt from Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin to make it 3-1.

Soon after, Wolff Eikrem made it 4-1.

Reduction in vain

After an hour of play, Vegard Leikvoll Moberg brought the game back to life, when he reduced for the visiting team. On Ulrik Saltnes’ goal, Osingen sent the ball past MFK Linde’s goalkeeper.

Bodø / Glimt, however, never managed to defend themselves in the match. Thus, Kjetil Knutsen’s men suffered their first defeat of the season. They are still comfortably on top, 16 points ahead of Molde, who with three points in tonight’s match outscores Rosenborg to second place.
