Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (31) performed “The Mountain” in the hit series “Game of Thrones”. Now he has lifted the full 501 kilos in the ground lift.

The record was set at Thor’s Power Gym in Iceland on Saturday, Reuters reports.

“I have no words. What an incredible day, one that I will remember for the rest of my life,” writes the weightlifter himself on Instagram, where he also posted a video of the record increase.

Fox writes that 501 kilos is more than the average polar bear weighs.

The actor of “Game of Thrones” for VG: – Mentally the hardest season for me.

Icelandic Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is probably best known as Sir Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane, the lagoi of Queen Cercei Lannister, in the hit series “Game of Thrones”.

He is also known as the strongest man in the world, a title he won in 2018.

“Sometimes it has been very difficult to combine acting and sport, but I managed to do both, and I have been very successful in both,” Björnsson told VG during a visit to Norway before Christmas that same year.

Due to the crown pandemic, Björnsson’s record was not set in a competition, but in front of a handful of family and friends at his regular gym.

According to Fox, the competition was the best strong man in the world (WUS) in organizing the recording attempt, and had one of his representatives as judge during Björnsson’s rise in Iceland.

The record was also broadcast live on ESPN.

Former record holder Eddie Hall, who lifted £ 500 in 2016, has objected to the promise, which he believes should have been carried out in more orderly circumstances.

He previously said that no suitable sport will approve records that are broken outside the context of a competition, writes the Washington Post.

Well done. But this should have been done in real competition, the Brit says in a video on Instagram after Björnsson’s promise on Saturday.

The two now plan and meet to find the answer to who is the strongest, once and for all, writes the Washington Post.
