Frida Karlsson (21) opens up about how heavy she was when she was denied training after she failed the Swedish national team medical checkup.
Karlsson has previously said he was way down when he started last season. But in episode three of Landskampen, which airs on TV 2, the Swedish cross country skier explains how she experienced the refusal to start.

After Karlsson finished eighth overall at the opening of the World Cup in Finland last year, she was not allowed to ski for two months. The 21-year-old says that after the success of the World Cup in Seefeld in 2019 with gold, silver and bronze, it was difficult to be satisfied. In Seefeld he was the youngest from last year.
– I want to do everything in the best possible way. I want to do my best. It is very easy to cross the border and move on, when in reality it is faster to do it step by step. It was too much. The load became too great. I got caught by a medical checkup, says Karlsson.

Johaug warned
Therese Johaug came forward to warn of the enormous pressure that awaited Karlsson after the World Cup triumph.
– It was incredibly impressive what Frida did in Seefeld, but to maintain that level weekend after weekend as a senior … you don’t have that foundation as a young person. And you have to have that foundation, and you have to be at the forefront every weekend, Johaug told VG when Karlsson returned in February.
