After Karlsson finished eighth overall at the opening of the World Cup in Finland last year, she was not allowed to ski for two months. The 21-year-old says that after the success of the World Cup in Seefeld in 2019 with gold, silver and bronze, it was difficult to be satisfied. In Seefeld he was the youngest from last year.

– I want to do everything in the best possible way. I want to do my best. It is very easy to cross the border and move on, when in reality it is faster to do it step by step. It was too much. The load became too great. I got caught by a medical checkup, says Karlsson.

She trained nothing is point. It was about balancing the body.

Petter Northug has been the great idol of Karlsson:

Johaug warned

Therese Johaug came forward to warn of the enormous pressure that awaited Karlsson after the World Cup triumph.

– It was incredibly impressive what Frida did in Seefeld, but to maintain that level weekend after weekend as a senior … you don’t have that foundation as a young person. And you have to have that foundation, and you have to be at the forefront every weekend, Johaug told VG when Karlsson returned in February.

But Frida Karlsson is back. The 21-year-old proved to everyone that she was back on top when she beat Therese Johaug at five kilometers in Holmenkollen in March. This is how she reacted then:

– It feels amazing, Karlsson said after his first World Cup winner.

If the corona pandemic allows, the World Cup will begin in Ruka, Finland, on the last weekend of November.
