The city’s mayor Ullrich Sierau prays fans, asking him to resist the temptation to come to the stadium and at the same time risk more people becoming infected with the coronavirus.
– Soccer fans must protect themselves and everyone else and not appear in groups to watch the derby. They are not allowed to come to the stadium and should not, Sierau told the German media, reproduced by Objective.

In 2014, just under 500 Dortmund supporters were kicked out of Schalke 04’s Veltins-Arena stadium for five years after a fight over the same match. In 2012, nearly 200 people were arrested and several were injured after riots before the rival deal. For many years there have been problems among supporters.

Instead, Sierau asks fans to stay home in small groups with family parties.
