12 different host countries in Europe seem less and less likely.
The European Championship play-offs will initially be played in June next year, after having been postponed for a year as a result of the coronavirus.
However, logistics has become a much greater challenge as a result of the corona pandemic.
The European Championship was originally going to be played in Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome and St. Petersburg, but now it may seem like Russia is getting away with all the fun.
The spread of the infection means that a solution with many different countries is not ideal, and Frenchman Le Parisien writes that UEFA is now considering a drastic change in implementation so that the championship can be held.
The French newspaper writes that the association is now considering the possibility of hosting the entire European Championship in one country, and that Russia is currently at the forefront of the queue as a possible host country.
The reasons for choosing Russia should be many, according to Le Parisien. They held the World Cup in 2018 and will have the most up-to-date infrastructure.
Also, depending on the conditions, there must be a low coronary infection in the country. Officially, only 29,000 deaths have been reported out of more than 1.6 million cases.
At the same time, the country’s borders have been closed since March, despite the fact that athletes have been granted a dispensation to travel to compete.
Azerbaijan is also said to have been seriously considered by UEFA as the host nation of the European Championship, but interest has cooled as a result of the country’s conflict with Armania.
UEFA has so far neither confirmed nor denied the information to Le Parisien.
