MANCHESTER UNITED-CHELSEA 00

He finished scoreless at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Chelsea on Saturday night. Despite several good chances, neither team was able to score in Manchester.

– All in all, it was a good defensive performance, and we created at least two great chances that could have given us victory. We were a bit careless in the opening, but gradually we put more pressure on them, Solskjær told Sky Sports.

Civil war

It was about half an hour before something happened at Old Trafford. Chelsea’s new signing, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, was playing the ball in his own goal in a strange way.

Before that, neither team had managed to have good scoring opportunities.

Shortly after, Bruno Fernandes crashed into the goalkeeper in a distant shot.

Then Chelsea woke up. Christian Pulisic was dangerous up front twice, but both finishes weren’t entirely first-class.

Then United launched a counterattack. Jorginho lost the ball in midfield. Juan Mata passed the ball to Marcus Rashford, who advanced towards the goalkeeper. Mendy followed up with a brilliant parade of legs and stopped Rashford from sending Solskjær’s men in the lead.

Five minutes before the break, Mendy showed class once more.

Rashford dribbled onto the field and threw the ball to Mata at 18 yards. The Spaniard tried to get the ball into the corner, but Mendy threw it from a corner kick.

He thinks Chelsea should have taken a penalty

The teams went 0-0 after an unimpressive first half. But just before the break we had two penalty situations, one for each of the teams.

First, Frank Lampard and Chelsea thought they should have been penalized when Harry Maguire held on to Cesar Azpilicueta as the United midfielder headed off a visiting team free kick.

A few minutes later, on the aforementioned Juan Matas scoring opportunity, Thiago Silva kicked Rashford’s foot when the Englishman passed the ball to Mata.

In neither situation did referee Martin Atkinson award a penalty.

– For me, this is a clear penalty. It sticks around him, and you can’t do that in your own field, said TV 2 expert Erik Thorstvedt.

According to host Jan-Henrik Børslid, the reason no punishment was imposed is because the VAR judges did not think it was a clear mistake by Martin Atkinson’s referee.

– It is a total error of tears, said the expert Simen Stamsø-Møller annoyed in the study.

Cavani-debut

One of United’s most exciting summer signings, Edinson Cavani, made his debut against Chelsea. The 33-year-old was substituted in the 58th minute and came close to scoring on his first touch. The Uruguayan shot the ball further into the goal after a cross from Bruno Fernandes, but the shot went off the wrong side of the post as seen by United’s eyes.

When the hour was played, it was Kai Havertz’s turn to be dangerous up front. The Chelsea attacking midfielder put his head into the ball after a good cross from Reece James, but the German could not control the shot on goal.

The second half was very exciting, where both Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Frank Lampard made offensive exchanges to secure three points.

Cavani had a chance to decide the match a minute before the end, but his former PSG teammate, Thiago Silva, masterfully blocked.

In extra time, Rashford tried to put the ball into the center longer, but another tiger jump from Mendy prevented United from winning.

But the great scoring chances did not come. The match at Old Trafford ended 0-0 at the end.

Chelsea are in sixth place and remain with nine points after six games. United are down to a disappointing 15th place, where the score is seven points from five games.
