When the news broke that Donald Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, he rose to fifth place among the favorites of bookmakers.

The Trump team has created a Nobel photo of Donald Trump. The trophy differs from what it really is: the winners receive a diploma and a gold medal with the face of Alfred Nobel in profile, as well as a sum of money. Screenshot

On Wednesday of last week, the news broke: FRP’s Christian Tybring-Gjedde nominated the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. On the same day, Trump’s campaign staff used the Peace Prize in his campaign fundraiser.

“Why did it take so long?” The Trump team asks in an email to the president’s supporters.

– He worked tirelessly

It is true that Trump has been nominated before. In 2018, Tybring-Gjedde and his party colleague Per-Willy Amundsen received media coverage for their proposal. On Wednesday, President Trump tweeted and retweeted 18 announcements about the new nomination.

The Trump team continues in their fundraising letter: “We have always known that our president deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Finally, he is nominated.” The truth is that President Trump has worked tirelessly to stop endless wars and to bring peace to the Middle East. ”

Brands triumph on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the president may face a triumph in US foreign policy in the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will then meet with the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. They must attend a ceremony at the White House. There they mark the establishment of diplomatic relations. Israel already has embassies only in Egypt and Jordan from the Arab countries.

Trump has called the agreements a “historic advance.” Netanyahu also used the word “historical” when he went to the United States on Sunday night.

– There will be a warm peace and an economic peace in addition to a diplomatic peace, he said.

Palestinian leaders, on the other hand, have called the agreements a betrayal of their case against Israel.

Trump in fifth place

On Friday, October 9, the Nobel Committee will announce who will receive this year’s Peace Prize. Hardly any experts who follow the Peace Prize believe that it is Trump’s name that is being advertised.

In foreign betting companies, however, the news of the nomination sparked a major shift. Until then, the president of the United States had odds of about 100. On Monday, the odds were about 14. Trump was then in fifth place in the ranking of betting companies.

At the head is the World Health Organization (WHO). In other words, you get the least amount of money back if you bet on the UN body that fights the coronavirus. Trump has criticized the WHO for being too lenient with China and has pulled the United States out of cooperation.

The other three who are ahead of Trump among the bettors are: climate activist Greta Thunberg, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
