NEW YORK (Dagbladet): US President Donald Trump has 88.6 million followers Twitter. In a very controversial way, he has used social media to communicate with the outside world. Lately, he has been repeatedly flagged by Twitter for lying that his presidential election was stolen.

Dutch prosecutors now claim that Trump’s account was hacked in October, just before the presidential election, AFP reports. This has previously been denied by both the White House and Twitter.

Hacker Victor Gevers (44) broke into Trump’s account @realDonaldTrump on Oct. 16 by guessing the president’s password, Dutch media reported, according to the news agency.

At the same time, the prosecution claims that Gevers will not be charged because he acted “ethically” and informed the authorities immediately about the data breach.

He also said that Trump’s password was “maga2020!” – which refers to Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again.”

This was also identical to the password that Dagbladet and hundreds of other journalists had to enter to log into the Wi-Fi network for Donald Trump election campaign meetings.

“We believe that the hacker actually broke into Trump’s Twitter account, but met the criteria that have been developed in criminal cases to drop the charges as an ethical hacker,” the prosecution said in a statement.

The US authorities have been informed of the outcome of the investigation.

Easy theft

When the hacking was first made public, Gevers himself told De Volkskrant newspaper that he easily got into Trump’s account by guessing the password, and that no form of two-step verification was necessary.

– Expected to be blocked after four unsuccessful attempts. Or at least they would ask me to provide additional information, Gevers said.

He also said that the Secret Service, which is responsible for security around the president of the United States, thanked him when they learned of the security breach.

According to De Volkskrant, Gevers also managed to access Trump’s Twitter account in 2016. At the time, he and two other people assumed that the password was “yourefired” (in Norwegian “You have fired” journaln.anm.), Which it was Trump’s. famous stanza during the television series «The Apprentice»
