Donald Trump – Fighting for President

BETHESDA / OSLO (Dagbladet): Hundreds of Trump supporters have shown up outside Walter Reed Military Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, where President Donald Trump is being treated for covid-19. Trump supporters loudly shout their support for the ailing president.

Passing cars honk in support, while others with less left for Trump point the finger at them.

Fight

At times, the situation between supporters and opponents was very wide. Among other things, Dagbladet witnessed a fight on the street in front of the hospital on Saturday afternoon. Everything was quickly interrupted by the nearby police. No one was seriously injured in the collision.

Across the street, journalists from much of the world are lining up to cover the situation. The American media is calling this the biggest health crisis an American president has faced since then-President Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

Inside the notorious military hospital outside of Washington DC, Trump is receiving treatment from some of America’s leading medical experts.

I drove for four hours

The couple Nan and Peter Levey have driven four hours from Connecticut to show their support for the president. They also plan to spend Sunday out of the hospital before heading home.

– He has done so much for us and the country, and this is our opportunity to show his support, says Nan, who was surprised when she found out that the president was infected, to Dagbladet.

– Everyone is vulnerable. Until we get a vaccine, we must all show compassion and do our best.

She believes it is difficult to say how this could affect the upcoming elections, but points out that the most important thing is that the president recovers and returns to the electoral campaign.

– He is the leader of the free world and this is important to people everywhere.

– What is it like to be here today?

– It is very inspiring to see people coming from all over. Look at the crowd; You can see all the races, all the colors, all the ages and genders, all these people who are here to support the president, despite the way the media portrays him.

– Are you sure he will recover?

– It sure is a word I’d like to use. I think we are all hopeful, but of course he is vulnerable because he is over 70 years old. But he is a “fighter” and a warrior. That way I’m sure, yeah.

– Holds the strong

Alexander Bush says Trump supporters will be present outside the hospital “and will hold the fort” until he is ready to continue the election campaign again.

Bush tells Dagbladet that he believes there was always a high risk of the president becoming infected.

– Through the electoral campaign and his work, he knows many people. I’m glad you’re here, if only for national security reasons and to receive the best care.

It’s no secret that the president hasn’t been enthusiastic about bandages. Most recently, during the presidential debate against Democratic candidate Joe Biden on Tuesday this week, he mocked Biden for wearing a mask. Trump has also held several major events, such as at the White House and public meetings, despite the infection control tips.

– Should Trump have taken more precautions?

– I understand that he and the employees were evaluated regularly. But I think by doing his job and being a candidate, it was inevitable. Given how contagious it is, it would probably be infected, says Bush.

Bush believes that the situation could have a major impact on the elections.

– You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t worried. It may decide the election, but I hope it doesn’t, says Bush, who will likely return to the hospital again Sunday.

Fight against the “China virus”

– We come here to support Donald Trump and his beautiful wife Melania. They are fighting the virus, the virus of China, says a Trump supporter, who does not want to give his name, to Dagbladet.

Trump also calls the corona virus the “China virus” often, something that has been criticized on several occasions.

– I was here yesterday, I came here today. We come here every day until he is better. This is our president. We will fight for him, he says.

Most Trump supporters have brought flags, hats, and other Trump effects. Three of them tell Dagbladet that they “love” the president.

– Because we love him, we appreciate what he has done for the country. We wish him all the best and that he gets better soon. We will vote for him on November 3. Four new years! Says Thio Ho.

– I came here from a communist country to find my freedom. I will not lose it again. Trump is the only way to give us that freedom. He is the best president we have had in the last 45 years, says Christine Ngyen.

– I came here for the same reason, to support our president. To let him know how much we care about him and how much we support him. He is the most amazing president we have ever had in my life and I am 77 years old. We want him to get better and have four new years, says Alice Butler-Short.

She believes the odds are on the president’s side and that he will survive this.

– Cried like a child

Ngyen says he freaked out when the president got infected.

– I was strong in the morning, but when I heard that I had a fever and had to go to the hospital, I cried like a child.

But when she saw him leave the White House on his own machine, she was relieved.

– I saw that the president is still going strong.

Butler-Short, on the other hand, says she wasn’t scared.

– He is very strong. God cares for him. We all pray for him. He has the light within him and we have the light here. We keep that light around you and you will be leaving the hospital soon. I bet he’s working, not just watching TV. That’s the kind of man we have.

On November 3, a month from now, Americans will vote on who they want to rule the country from the White House. The three women do not believe that the president’s illness affects the elections.

– I think he will continue in the position. Trump supporters are always loyal, says Ngyen.

– I think the election can benefit from this, stopping and thinking about this man and what he sacrifices for the country. Maybe ask the other side questions about what they do and why, Butler-Short says.

Both Ngyen and Butler-Short now believe he is headed for a landslide victory in the pro-Trump election on November 3.
