A new, faster-spreading variant of the coronavirus will be discovered in London, with the city closing starting on Wednesday.
Matt Hancock, Britain’s health minister, said Monday that the country’s authorities had identified a new variant of the coronavirus.
The new mutation spreads faster, he warns, and says they have identified more than 1,000 cases of the new mutation.
– We have to persevere, says Hancock.
The virus variant has been reported in 60 local areas, and the same variant is said to have been discovered in other countries in recent months, Sky News writes.
Authorities have notified the World Health Organization (WHO).
The virus is spreading not just among the young, but across all age groups, including those over 60, Hancock says.

However, one consolation, according to the Health Minister, is that there is nothing to indicate that the vaccine will not work in the new variant of the virus.
In addition, Hancock describes a large increase in the number of cases in South Wales, London and in the East and South East of England.
Now London, parts of Essex and Herfordshire will be at level 3 of the country’s contingency plan. This means, among other things, that pubs and restaurants must close completely. It is also not allowed to gather more than six people outside.
The new restrictions will take effect from Wednesday.
