Soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona is dead, just 60 years old. The Argentine newspaper El Clarín closely follows the news of Diego Maradona’s death, and recounts the last minutes of the legend’s life.
Maradona should not have felt well when he got up around 10 in the morning and went back to bed, Clarín writes.
This must have disturbed his guards so much that they contacted Maradona’s closest.
Among them are his friend, lawyer and agent Matías Morla, the three daughters who live in Argentina, and his doctor, Leopoldo Luque.
At 12 o’clock in the morning today, Argentine time, it was clear that something serious was coming, and soon the tragedy was a fact. Maradona died of cardiac arrest in the house where he had settled after brain surgery.
Complications after surgery.
Maradona is hailed as arguably the greatest player of all time and was a role model for many. At the same time, Mardona has struggled with health problems for many years, in part due to her history of obesity problems, mental health problems, alcohol and cocaine abuse.
This marked his last days.
Maradona was originally admitted to a clinic in La Plata with signs of depression, anemia and dehydration, before being transferred to Hospital Clínica Olivos when the brain hemorrhage was discovered, writes Sky Sports.
Although the operation for the brain hemorrhage on November 3 was characterized as successful, he must have experienced a relapse in the last days of his life, both physically and mentally.
Two days after the operation, there were reports of complications.
– We saw that there was a phase after the operations in which Diego was confused, said his personal doctor Leopoldo Luque, who performed the operation.
Maradona must have shown withdrawal symptoms. Two days later, the doctors still wanted to keep Maradona in the hospital, even though he had insisted on leaving himself.
– You must receive treatment to stop drinking. We have to take the bull by the horns. You have liver problems, heart problems, and an upset stomach. It is complex and Diego is a complicated patient, said Dr. Alfredo Cahe.
– Nothing motivates
About a week after the operation, he was transferred from the hospital to a house in the city of Tigre, about 30 kilometers from the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.
– Diego has gone through a very difficult time. It was a miracle that they (the doctors) found out about the bleeding in the brain. It could have cost him his life, said Maradona’s lawyer, Matías Morla.
According to the main Argentine newspaper Clarín, he was in Tigre’s house under the intensive supervision of health personnel, and had, among other things, a nurse with him 24 hours a day. You must also have received training.
What the television images did not capture
Much of the rehabilitation after the operation must have been aimed at motivating the soccer star, which according to some of those closest to him must have been a problem.
– Nothing motivates him, some of them said according to Clarín in relation to his 60th birthday.
Difficult days
In the last days of his life, Maradona was surrounded by his loved ones and his family, especially his daughters Giannina and Jana, who frequently visited him at Tigre’s home.
According to Clarín, he stayed away from alcohol, which was a prerequisite to be able to return to his normal life as coach of the Gimnasia football club.
The idea should have been aired to visit the team’s training session or a match, to encourage it, or even a trip to Cuba with which he had a very close relationship both personally and politically. Instead, his final days ended up being described as difficult and not looking good.
Image criticism
Besides being a football god, Maradona was also a controversial figure throughout his life. Nor have the last few days been completely free of controversy.
The doctor who treated him, Leopoldo Luque, received criticism for a photo he posed with the soccer legend.
Naples and the world are crying
In the picture, Maradona has a bandage that covers much of the top of his head. The image did not sit well with Maradona’s family, and the doctor had to apologize.
– I apologize to those who feel offended, criticized or thought that the photo was inappropriate, Luque emphasized, clarifying that it was not he who took the initiative to be photographed.

Ambulances in place
As mentioned, it was at 12 o’clock today that it became clear that something serious was going on. Then several ambulances stopped outside the house in the San Andrés district in the city of Tigre near Buenos Aires, where Maradona in recent weeks has tried to reach the hooks after the operation.
Despite an intense effort, the health personnel failed to achieve what they hoped would be a new miracle in the life of the football god.
Now the whole world of football is inconsolable.
