Toppfotball Women CEO Hege Jørgensen takes on the NFF after they moved the women’s cup final from Ullevaal Stadium. Now the Secretary General responds that it is all a misunderstanding.
There is chaos around the place where the cup final between LSK and Vålerenga will be played.
The match was originally scheduled to be played at the Ullevaal Stadium on December 13, but early Thursday the competition director of the Norwegian Football Association confirmed that the match will be moved from the national arena.
– Ullevaal Stadium has been informed that a cup final will not be held there, Nils Fisketjønn told VG.

VG was also in dialogue with the operations manager at Ullevaal Stadium, Øyvind Sakshaug. He confirmed that it was practically possible for them to hold the match in the arena on December 13, and that they had a plan for it, but that now the association had informed them that the match would not be held there.
– Have you been notified?
– Yes, we have been told that it will not be played at Ullevaal Stadium, Sakshaug replied.
Respond to the decision
It sparked reactions from Toppfotball Women CEO Hege Jørgensen.
– I must say, this surprised me. Unfortunately we have not been involved here and I wonder why. NFF has always known that locker rooms had to be rebuilt. They were supposed to be on the original date too, Jørgensen tells VG.
NFF mentioned both the expansion of the changing room and the protection of the platform in the field as the reason it moved. Jørgensen doesn’t buy it.
– That the girls destroy the tire are arguments that have been used all the time. But then I remind you that last year’s men’s final took place on December 8th. Furthermore, we know that wear after a women’s match is significantly less than that of a men’s match.
He also says that he believes it is “a shame and a pity to keep the cup final away from the national stage, to which we really wanted to return.”
When VG presented the criticism to the NFF General Secretary, Pål Bjerketvedt, he claims that it has not been decided that the match will move to Ullevaal, in stark contrast to what its own competition director and Ullevaal stadium operations director stated.
– The cup final, scheduled for Ullevaal on November 21, was postponed due to an infection in the clubs. The subject you present has not been on my table in the way it presents. There is a dialogue with Ullevaal stadium about playing a match in Ullevaal on December 13, which is the last time. Work has also started to search for alternative stadiums / reserve stadiums indoors and outdoors. When this has been investigated, a recommendation will be sent to me and then a decision will be made, writes Bjerketvedt in a text message.
Faced with the confirmation of the NFF competition director, he maintains that the case is “under consideration”:
– It is true that it has been a bit of back and forth. But the decision has not been finally made, Bjerketvedt responds.
– Does this mean you turn around?
– We have not made a final decision, so “turning around” will be wrong. But the process on our part has not been tight enough, as various statements show, responds the secretary general.
– What is actually the current state? And why don’t you and the contest director have the same opinion?
– A misunderstanding.
