Countess Alexandra and Prince Joachim:

[ad_1]

It has been 15 years since Prince Joachim (51) of Denmark and Countess Alexandra (56) divorced after ten years of marriage. The actual divorce was made on April 8, 2005, after they had separated in September of the previous year.

Together, the Countess and the Prince had two sons Nikolai and Felix, who are now 21 and 18 years old, respectively. In retrospect, Prince Joachim has remarried Princess Marie (44), with whom he has children Athena (8) and Henrik (11).

The much-talked about Countess Alexandra also remarried in 2007, just two years after the royal divorce. However, the marriage to much younger photographer Martin Jørgensen (42) went down the drain in 2015.

In 2019, the Countess also had a short-term relationship with Tony Lindkold.

Still, she will probably be best remembered for her marriage to Prince Joachim, a relationship that she now speaks about more of in the Chinese documentary “A Bigger Role.”

– It is not the question

In the documentary, Countess Alexandra reveals the reason why the Prince of Denmark ended in 2004.

– He’s a good friend and he means a lot to me. Perhaps two people are not meant to always be together. We should not be married forever, says the Countess in the documentary, reproduced by the Danish Se og Hør.

Countess Alexandra and Prince Joachim met in the Countess’s hometown, Hong Kong, in 1994, and married in November of the following year. In the documentary, he describes the breakup as “a happy divorce.”

– If you ask me, what we have is the second best after a happy marriage, that is, a happy divorce. What we have is not forced. It is something that feels very natural. It’s not just because we have two beautiful children together that we feel like we have to make an effort, says the 56-year-old.

According to Danish Se og Hør, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix also appear in the documentary. The role of the single mother of the two children also receives attention in the new television documentary.

– It’s not easy being a single mother. It’s really difficult, says the Countess frankly.

New life

Countess Alexandra has been part of the Danish public for decades, and she hasn’t exactly been silent after the royal departure in 2005 either. The 56-year-old still has a close relationship with the Danish royal family and constantly looks at photos with them.

In an interview with the Danish newspaper Berlingske this summer, the countess spoke about “her new life” after the divorce and about her relationship with the children.

– I feel like the ring is over. I’m back in business, where I started, but this time as a board member, but also as a mother, she said.

Also, Alexandra told the newspaper that parting ways financially has been scary. Earlier this year, she stopped receiving the apanas she received annually since the divorce.

– I’ll be honest when I say it’s a blanket that my feet were ripped off. But purely human, no ties have been cut. I have a great relationship with the father of the children and his family. They constantly see us away and have fun, he said.

The countess is now single and spends a lot of time with her two children.
