Coronavirus: – – Trump is lucky

President Donald Trump has been hospitalized and released since he was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Friday morning. Health Director Bjørn Guldvog and Health Minister Bent Høie strongly disagree with the president’s proposal on the disease.

– I think it is important to try to see the positive aspects also in the situation in which we find ourselves now. But I think Donald Trump grossly downplays the negative consequences of the crown, and I don’t expect people in the US or Norway to regard his statements about the severity of the disease as sound advice, Guldvog tells Dagbladet, continuing:

– It is a very serious disease for many, which can have serious health consequences with hospitalizations, respiratory treatments, permanent but and in the worst case death. Trump is fortunate to have the best healthcare deals in the world and the opportunity to get the latest in drugs, whether they are tried or not. It is not an offer that is available to Americans or other people in the world today.

VIP treatment

The president’s doctors have confirmed that Trump has been treated with both remdevir and dexamethasone, and the treatment has been described as experimental. Such treatment would not be given to important people in Norway.

– I have noticed that you have received both remdesivir and dexamethasone, and it is a treatment that until now has hardly been given to any other person in the world, says Guldvog and continues:

– We have good experiences in providing a good deal based on knowledge, which is well documented. We do not believe that we will subject our Prime Minister or other VIPs to an experimental treatment that is not documented in such a situation.

Strongly disagree

Health Minister Bent Høie agrees with me, Guldvog.

– In Norway, we offer the same treatment to everyone. It is based on knowledge and will be tailored to the individual patient’s situation, and will not be tied to the patient’s condition, Høie tells Dagbladet.

– What do you think of President Trump’s statement that covid-19 should not be feared?

– I do not agree with that. It is important that we all have respect for this virus, which is very contagious, and for many it can be very dangerous, says Høie and continues:

– Even if you think that this is not so dangerous for you, you can be the intermediary that makes the virus spread to someone who does not tolerate it, and in the worst case, they can die from this disease. Therefore, it is important to adhere to infection control rules to prevent the virus from spreading.

20 mill. until

During Tuesday’s press conference, Høie announced that he is strongly warning against going solo in connection with the corona pandemic. At the same time, he stated that the government proposes to allocate NOK 20 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) in addition to the usual.

When asked by Dagbladet, he confirms that he does not agree with the US decision to announce that they are withdrawing from the WHO.

– I warn against what the United States and President Donald Trump have chosen to do: warn that they will withdraw from the WHO. I think that’s wrong, especially when we are faced with an international health crisis. Norway chooses to do the opposite, that is, to increase our contribution to WHO, which we believe is necessary for the world to face this situation together.
