On Wednesday, Prime Minister Erna Solberg announced that Norway will resume the gradual reopening of the company. The changes apply to both wide sports, bar stops and outdoor events. But Oslo and other municipalities with a high spread of the infection may have to wait.
– I think we have to wait a bit in Oslo, Arendal and Øygarden. This is because it should not be further liberalized in places where there are still outbreaks, Solberg tells Dagbladet and continues:
– In such places, local rules have been introduced. Thus, it is a carrot for municipalities to know that if you manage to overcome the outbreaks, then you can return to a daily life where more people can go to outdoor events and adults can train to a greater extent.
Starting October 12, these national changes will be made:
- Parts of grassroots adult sports are being reopened.
- The national bar stop rises at midnight.
- Up to 600 participants are allowed in outdoor events.
The phase
Solberg describes the changes as a new phase in which Norway will better focus measures, so that the burden on the population is as small as possible. However, municipalities with high infection pressure are advised to maintain local measures recommended by the government.
For example, the city of Oslo has introduced local measures on bandages, bans on events with more than 50 participants without fixed seats, and guest registration at restaurants. If the infection pressure in Oslo does not ease by October 12, they may not support the national reopening either.
15 shoots in a week
– Oslo now has good local measures because they have an infection situation. I hope that Oslo will get faster results from this, so that they can open up more, both in the measures they have at the local level, and also to be part of some of the national relays. But it’s too early to say anything about today, Health Minister Bent Høie tells Dagbladet.
776 infected
On Wednesday, the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) released a new weekly report indicating that 776 people were reported infected last week. It is at the same level as the previous three weeks.
The spread of the infection may be mainly related to the municipality of Oslo and various major and minor outbreaks across the country.
These are the new crown rules
– Now there are large geographical differences in the pressure of infection in Norway. The spread of infection in some counties is on the rise, especially in Oslo, which has the highest infection pressure, there are also other areas with low infection pressure, says department director Line Vold at FHI to Dagbladet.
– This means that the reopening will continue gradually as planned by the government, at the same time that emphasis is placed on places where there is a high pressure of contagion, so some of the local measures that have been implemented must be maintained or introduced. recommended, he continues.
Oslo infection
Culture Minister Abid Raja tells Dagbladet that he hopes Oslo can follow through on the national reopening plan.
– I am concerned that Oslo will do everything possible to control the spread of the infection. Right now, the level of infection is very high in Oslo. It is worrying for the population, that we do not want to be infected. At the same time, it is important that Oslo does not contribute to the spread of the infection in the country, says Raja and continues:
That’s why the Oslo alarm sounded
– Today it is difficult to say how the infection situation will be in Oslo on October 12. But if the local infection situation allows it, then one should not open up to grassroots sports. The government now grants a blanket permit and local adjustments must also be made based on the infection situation.
Broad sports
Throughout the summer, Raja found himself dissatisfied with the fact that grassroots sports were prioritized behind other activities in the order of reopening. The Minister of Culture admits that he would like grassroots sports to open earlier.
– I would have liked grassroots sports to open earlier. I also wish the coronavirus never reached the world or Norway so that we could have lived our lives normally, says Raja and continues:
– But we have had to deal with the infection situation. That is exactly what has led the health authorities so far to advise us not to open up. Fortunately, they now recommend opening for phase one.
Hundreds of thousands receive bandages
Raja says he has experienced a broad commitment to reopening grassroots adult sports. At the same time, he says he understands it well, since he has played sports himself.
– It is not that the government has been hurt and twisted which has meant that we have not been able to reopen until now. But when Camilla Stoltenberg, Espen Rostrup Nakstad and Bjørn Guldvog look to the government and advise us to wait, I think it is wise to wait.
