In both Norway and Sweden, in recent months it has largely been younger people who have been affected by the coronavirus. Also, there are new reports that those affected by covid have symptoms for many weeks.
In a Facebook post, Charlie Eriksson writes that it has been five weeks since he tested positive for the coronavirus. The symptoms were sore throat, nasal congestion, cough, and fever.
– I thought «so delicious, now I’m affected, then I get antibodies and the case is out of the world. Like a common cold, “he writes in the post.
Dagbladet has been in contact with Eriksson, who does not want to be interviewed. He has approved reference to the Facebook post.
Picked up by ambulance
Now, five weeks later, the 30-year-old is still ill, he writes. The cough doesn’t go away and the nose is stuffy.
– On Sunday, the ambulance had to take me to the emergency room because I was having difficulty breathing. He had a rash on his legs and incredible pain in his body. It turns out that I still have covid-19 after five weeks.
According to Eriksson, the tests show that the virus is still in the body and that it has settled in the lungs.
– So now I have heavier breathing and this devilish cough. I get tired of all effort.
The 30-year-old writes that he has been in good physical shape and has no underlying diseases.
– Covid-19 has decomposed the body and has settled in the lungs. They don’t know how long I’ll be sick. But it will probably last several more weeks.
Life after Covid disease
– Not contagious
He writes that he has a different view of the disease. Reflect on how the virus can affect the elderly, when the young and healthy get so sick.
– If you can do this with me, I dare not think about what it is like to go through this with an underlying disease or in old age.
According to Eriksson, it is not contagious, even though the disease is still in the body.
– It’s a relief in misery.
Now he reminds everyone to keep their distance and wash their hands.
It admits errors: – Difficult
Nurse Hege Magnusson is the administrator of the Swedish Facebook group “Covid-19, we are affected.” Magnusson, who comes from Klæbu in Trøndelag, has lived in Sweden for 15 years.
In May, he wrote a post in Expressen, in which he asked authorities to come on board.
“After months of suffering, we, thousands of people with long-term covid-19, began to appear. We are the first group of long-term patients, ”wrote Magnusson, who at the time had been ill since March 10.
At the time of writing, the Facebook group has more than 13,000 members.
“We are thousands who never seem to get better – help us!” The nurse wrote.

Long-term illness
On September 29, Espen Lindholm, specialist in anesthesiology and internal medicine at Oslo University Hospital, and Tor Inge Tønnessen, specialist and chief physician of the intensive care unit at OUS, wrote about the long-term illness as a result of covid -19 in the Journal of the Norwegian Medical Association.
It was then reported that between 10 and 33 percent experience long-term illness, for several weeks and months, after being infected with COVID-19.
“There are a growing number of reports of long-term courses of COVID-19. Some of these descriptions come from doctors who have reviewed the disease themselves and who, after the acute course, indicate long-term symptoms,” they write.
At the same time, doctors emphasize that there is still a lack of knowledge about the long-term effects of the virus.
A study by researchers from Kings College London shows that one in 20 people infected with covid has symptoms that persist for eight weeks.
The study shows that there is an excessive prevalence of long-term diseases among women, overweight and people with asthma.
