The man convicted of the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall is said to have tried to escape from prison on Tuesday.
Peter Madsen, sentenced to life in prison, is said to have attempted to escape from Herstedvester prison in Denmark on Tuesday, according to various Danish media.
Copenhagen’s Vestegns Politi confirms to Danmarks Radio that it is Madsen.
Herstedvester Prison will be reserved for some of the worst criminals in the country and has around 150 inmates. Madsen himself is said to have wanted to be transferred to prison in August 2018.
The prison does not want to comment on the case to VG.
The police action took place in Albertslund, on the outskirts of Copenhagen, and the Danish police confirmed that they were there in connection with a prisoner trying to escape.
At 1:00 p.m., Madsen was expelled from the scene by the police, they write on Twitter.

The place where the action took place is called Albertslund, which is a suburban municipality about 17 kilometers from Copenhagen.
It is only a few hundred meters from Herstedvester Prison.
A witness claims he came walking down the road when a white van passed, before police suddenly appeared and asked him to leave, according to Ekstra Bladet. The man further tells the newspaper that the police opened the door of the truck and took out Peter Madsen.
Images from the scene show two snipers lying on the ground and staring at Madsen sitting next to a bush in the middle of a residential area.
Several Danish media claim that he came out threatening to carry a bomb. The bomb squad was on the scene with a robot.
Danish BT writes at 12:22 that members of the bomb squad had begun to approach Madsen. At 1 pm, he was arrested.
Swedish freelance journalist Kim Wall visited Madsen on his submarine in August 2017 to write a report on the matter, when he disappeared.
Two years later, the Copenhagen city court sentenced the Danish inventor to life imprisonment for Wall’s premeditated murder. This is the most severe punishment that can be imposed in Danish criminal law.
He has also been convicted of sexual abuse and desecration.

Throughout the trial against him, he affirmed his innocence. However, he was sentenced to life in prison for Wall’s murder in 2018.
Madsen himself has only admitted to having separated Wall’s body and believes he acted in a panic. He explained that he died as a result of poisoning aboard the submarine.
In a recent Danish Discovery Networks documentary, Madsen, on the other hand, confesses to being behind the murder.
– It has nothing to do with who’s to blame. It’s my fault she died. And it’s my fault, because I committed the crime. It’s all my fault, he says in a telephone conversation with a journalist from Discovery’s “Secret Recordings” program.
