Martin Ødegaard is said to have completed medical examinations in London in the past 24 hours. The loan agreement between Real Madrid and Arsenal is expected to be announced soon, perhaps on Tuesday.

Arsenal face Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium tonight. Ødegaard shouldn’t be relevant there. But reports in England indicate that he will be released from quarantine and can join the squad almost immediately.

The major Spanish newspaper AS writes today that the loan agreement runs until June 30. Arsenal reportedly have to fork out two million euros, or 20 million crowns, to give up the attacking midfielder for the next five months.

This was the same amount that Real Sociedad paid to Real Madrid when Ødegaard was loaned to the club in 2019. But this sum was applied to the entire season.

AS prints today a picture of Ødegaard on a trip with caps and backpack. Avisa writes that Arsenal must pay the Norwegian full salary, without mentioning an amount.

There is no purchase option in the agreement, but a reassessment is expected when the loan agreement expires.

The future after the summer will depend on Ødegaard’s performance at Arsenal, the situation at Real Madrid at the moment and what all parties think.

Following the transfer of Mesut Özil to Fenerbahce, Arsenal need a creative midfielder.

Ødegaard is said to have received promises from coach Mikel Arteta that there will be plenty of playing time. He has struggled with injuries for the past year. But this should not be the reason why it has been in the “freezer” of Zinédine Zidane.

English media suggest Ødegaard will get suit number 10. Arsenal have had a weak season and are ranked 11th.
