Arnardo lived with the circus all his life, taking over from the legendary Arne Arnardo who died backstage during a performance in 1995. By then his son Arild already had most of the responsibility for several years.
Circus operations have long been debated, and in the interview, Arnardo opposed blogger Sophie Elise Isachsen, who encouraged her readers to tear down Arnardo’s billboards.
– Sophie Elise doesn’t know what she’s doing. He uses pictures of lions and elephants that he has found online and links them to us. We don’t even have such animals. She destroys our culture and reputation, Arnardo said at the time.
When Arild retired, his son Are Arnardo took over the operation, and in 2012 VG interviewed his son Arne Otto Luigi (12 years old at the time) as the fourth generation Arnardo in the circus manege.
This summer, Sirkus Arnardo had to cancel his performances due to corona. You can read it here: 200 Canceled Performances: Circus Performers Have Seen Their Lives Upside Down.
