After three weeks in quarantine, Terje Langli and China’s female coach Anita Moen were eager to finally get started. But as is well known, an accident rarely occurs by itself:

– We were training. Anita and I chatted while skating and I was a little out of focus. I got out onto the gravel, fell over and hit the only rock in a mile radius.

– So, there was a slightly complicated fracture in the elbow, says Langli and calls it “a juicy fall.

He is currently in a Beijing hospital awaiting arm surgery.

– I’m fine. This is the Olympic Committee hospital for assets, so conditions are very good. But they are waiting for the swelling to subside before they can operate, says the Trøndelag resident.

Previously, he worked with Chinese brokers as an employee of NTG Kompetanse in Lillehammer. He is now employed directly by the Chinese Olympic Committee.

– I will form a lubrication team and participate in technical training. But the main task is to get the best possible service team for the Olympics, he says.

He characterizes the training facility as “unbelievably good.”

– There are miles of ski slopes on wheels. Now they have also built a snow tunnel. The ambitions are high, but we have to adjust to what is necessary, so that they do not lose ground on skis and lubrication. That’s why he doesn’t fit in with such a long hiatus, says Langli, who worked on the Norwegian service team for ten years, about half of them as boss.

– The Chinese understand that they must develop their own competence and, therefore, bring foreign aid for it. My task is to raise the level of knowledge

– Then there will be a new quarantine! But possibly only seven days.
