Øde Nerdrum has become a sensation in “Farmen Kjendis”. Now letters from suitors are flooding the mailbox.

The painter Øde Nerdrum is among the most prominent in this year’s “Farmen Kjendis”. Both with political statements, their joy in reading poems and perhaps especially their way of speaking. But inside “La Granja” he has enjoyed a lot.

– It is so difficult and so little at the same time. I hadn’t been to anything like this before so it was really special. For me, it wasn’t just a TV show, but an experience, he says.

Before Farmen Kjendis took him into people’s living rooms, Nettavisen did a great portrait interview with the controversial painter. You can read the complete interview here:

The sea

– The West has lost all respect for itself. The new religion is the UN and human rights

Nerdrum says that he had no negative experiences at Farmen Kjendis, and that it was a pleasure to be with him. In hindsight, there have also been overwhelmingly positive reactions.

– Many make contact

– There are many who contact me. I have received everything possible, except that I have not received very ugly things. Some are letters of proposal, others a friendly contact. It’s very nice, he says.

One of the most talked about television moments was a heated discussion between blogger Anniken Jørgensen and Øde Nerdrum about gay marriage. Nerdrum took the relatively unpopular view that marriage consists of a man and a woman, and that the Church of Norway should have more respect for the Bible.

– Sometimes it was that the differences between several of the others and me were caused. There were many exchanges, but it went well.

– How did others react to your sometimes controversial views?

– Sometimes it happened that people, and I don’t need to mention names, could answer that he was an idiot. I don’t take it too badly. That is their perspective and they do not have to agree with me. But when it comes to nicknames like this, it is often a sign that one does not understand the other. And I can be an idiot, I’m open to that opportunity, Nerdrum tells Nettavisen.

Now he is painting at full capacity on his father’s farm in Stavern. There he stays with other lucky ones, who get to participate in an environment where they can cultivate their skills. The environment is characterized by strict rules and harsh rounds of criticism. The goal is to constantly improve.

– Good that something interrupts our lives

Actually, the painter was going to have an exhibition in Bergen shortly. However, due to the coronavirus, it was postponed until April 10. It is his firm hope that the pace of vaccines will pick up, so that when the time comes it will be a full exposure.

– Sometimes I get a little bored. But at the same time, I can adapt. The danger is that many people feel that this is especially terrible. If you’ve read a bit of history, you’ll find that this is not so singularly horrible, he says and adds:

– By pure coincidence, I read last year the book “Love in the time of cholera”. It was an epidemic that lasted for many years, perhaps decades. With stops, openings and then new stops. In a sense, it’s great that something breaks in and interrupts our lives, he says.

– What do you mean?

– It’s a mess with the modern era that we think we can control too much. Humanity has received a deserved slap on the wrist. The world says it has its own plan.

– What do you think of the handling?

– I don’t bother to defend myself. I have so many different views on this and I don’t know if all the information I get is correct. It is also very confusing. In my age group, I almost got sick more from the flu than from the coronavirus. It also turns upside down when you are 60 years old. No wonder people get confused.

– I have decided to paint and have fun, and rather to observe everything. I also know in my calm mind that things happen that interrupt human lives.
