Cathrine Fossum (42) is returning in the role of “old”.

When Good Morning Norway host Espen Fiveland (46) today takes a temporary break from viewers to do paperwork, he leaves the witness to a solid acquaintance.

Four years after her departure as host of the TV 2 morning show, Cathrine Fossum, news anchor on TV 2 and Nyhetskanalen, is set for a rerun of “GMN” this year.

– It will be very cozy. I’m really looking forward to a mini-comeback, Fossum tells VG.

– What’s the biggest difference between this and work as a news anchor?

– It is easier to think in similarities than in differences. For me, it’s about meeting people, asking what you’re wondering about and being able to convey something to the world. “Good Morning Norway” really is life summed up in one show, with joys, sorrows and entertainment and all that goes with it, says Fossum.

Fossum herself feels that she can be a bit like a “potato”, that is, one that can be used for everything.

– But I never get used to getting up so early. However, I have discipline when it comes to going to bed early. Fortunately, I have a man who shows up and talks at home when I’m not around, says Fossum, who is married to Anders Hovdan (43) and the mother of two children, 11 and 8 years old.

It is also the second time in a short time that Fossum has replaced a colleague at pappaperm. This spring, she acted as a program director on “Åsted Norway” for Jens Christian Nørve (42).

– I like to get new challenges. Also, I’ve been on the TV 2 system for so long that I can take advantage of the experience here and there in the new roles. I am good at adapting to environments. And then I am very grateful to be able to do something so different.

When Fossum left the TV channel after ten years in 2016, it was to do something completely different. Then she went to work as a communications manager at Rema 1000. But the yearning for journalism was great, and already in 2017, the 42-year-old was back, then as a presenter at Nyhetskanalen.

– I came back more motivated than ever, laughs Fossum.

Cathrine Fossum: – Being a mother has given me an inner security

When he disappeared from the media house four years ago, it was against wish of the management. The host himself had requested a severance package, which the bosses refused to grant. The joy of the channel was even greater when Fossum again sought his return.

News editor Karianne Solbrække agrees that Fossum is a “potato” on the channel.

– Yes, in a positive sense. We are very happy to have her on the program staff. Cathrine is a versatile and very flexible profile. We’re lucky, says Solbrække.
