FrP has not received enough support to get a deal ready by Friday, which is the deadline for the Storting’s finance committee to present a recommendation with a majority for the state budget.
This is what FRP leader Siv Jensen says after Thursday’s meeting with ruling party leaders for a new round of state budget negotiations.
– We will not finish within the deadline for the financial framework, so we will continue as long as necessary, he says.
The budget meeting lasted an hour and a half on Thursday.
– There is movement, but there is still a great distance, says Jensen.
Wants bigger tax cuts
The FRP leader says the party has not received a tax cut, thus calling for cross-border trade. There are also no clarifications on the number of refugees in the quota.
– It is important to us that the reductions in taxes on typical goods exposed at the border are large enough to be worth it, and then we must have an adequate reward for asylum and immigration, he says.
It also highlights the protection of pavements and landslides and the purchasing power of retirees.
– We are now working hard to achieve the progress we need to be able to reach an agreement and recommend a solution, but we are not there now.
Along the way, Jensen has highlighted money for retirees, asylum and immigration policy, border trade taxes, transportation and paving, and road safety as issues the FRP should have an impact on.
– Seriously
Ahead of the meeting, the FRP leader said it is too early to say whether the parties will agree, NTB wrote on Thursday.
– It is serious now, and it is the government that can help solve this mess. FRP has been constructive throughout, but our demands must not be wrong, he said.
On Tuesday, he left the budget meeting with the other party leaders after just under half an hour, while describing Wednesday’s meeting as more constructive.
