Boxing, Cecilia Brækhus | Klemetsen reacts again to the loss of Brækhus:

Ole Klemetsen believes a mistake could have been decisive for Cecilia Brækhus in the loss to Jessica McCaskill last night.

On Sunday night, Cecilia Brækhus was again too small a number for Jessica McCaskill.

Therefore, Brækhus did not get revenge for his first loss as a professional boxer. It came in August, when the Norwegian was shaken by McCaskill and had to give up all of his World Cup belts after a narrow loss of points.

– It was a new defeat and it’s a bit sad, says former professional boxer Ole Klemetsen to Nettavisen.

This time the loss was much clearer. The judges gave McCaskill the victory 100-89, 99-90, 98-91, and the American takes the five belts that she beat Brækhus last year.

– It was not done correctly

Ole Klemetsen emphasizes that he has not seen the entire game live and that it is easy to be wise afterwards. But he believes that Brækhus made a mistake that he shouldn’t have made.

– The tactic was probably not done as it should. It’s easy to come later and say what should have been done and what didn’t, but it probably wasn’t done correctly anyway, so you lost, says the former professional boxer, elaborating:

– It’s probably a reality that I should have boxed differently. From what little I have seen, she stands in front of her rather than just boxing like she can. Cecilia is a very good technical boxer, so he should have used more and kept her at a distance, and he boxed instead of fighting her, he says.

Brækhus has now lost two games in a row, after winning his first 36 as a professional.

– An ugly thing to do

The last time Brækhus lost to McCaskill, Klemetsen feared “The First Lady” would underestimate the opponent, something he thought he did in his boxing career.

He does not rule out that it has happened again to Brækhus, despite the defeats in the first game.

– If possible. Underestimating is always unpleasant. But it doesn’t make sense to do it after losing the first game. Now I do not know their criticisms, but I did it in my context of hostess. It’s easy to make a mistake, says Klemetsen.

By “in my context,” Klemetsen means when he lost to Thomas Hansvoll in the last boxing match of his career. Klemetsen also believes that McCaskill’s boxing style is one of the main reasons Brækhus lost again.

– She has won so many games and has shown that she has been the best in the world. Suddenly someone appears who does not fit his boxing style. He did the same in my career. Then Thomas Hansvoll came along who didn’t fit my style and me as a boxer, and I lost to him. It certainly means you’re not good at boxing anymore, but there’s only one person you can’t beat. It is not embarrassing.

– There is a time for everything

After last night’s loss, Brækhus told DAZN that he wants to meet McCaskill again, but in the welterweight division. Klemetsen doesn’t have a lot of faith, he doesn’t have a lot of faith that it will happen.

– Now he’s proven twice that he can’t beat her. Sometimes it is like that. You beat the vast majority, but then there are some opponents who are very difficult and you can’t fight. There are some that do not suit you, easily and simply. It turns out that this opponent is not suitable for Brækhus, says Klemetsen.

– What do you think will be next for Brækhus?

– Brækhus is good enough to beat very, very fast and has shown it before. Whether she will continue this here and face new matches is entirely up to her, but my assessment is that there is a time for everything, says Klemetsen.
