Jadon Sancho gave the penalty to the forward of the Norwegian team, who already opened the goal count in the local series.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND – BORUSSIA MÖNCHENGLADBACH 3-0:

Borussia Dortmund did not play a brilliant match, but they were still better than Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

Gio Reyna gave the team the lead before the break, and the American shooting star was also involved in the first goal after the break.

The 17-year-old fell in a duel in the 54th minute, and after referee Felix Brych saw the situation on video, he pointed to the penalty spot.

Jadon Sancho scooped the ball up and was about to put it on the penalty spot when Haaland walked over to chat.

With his hand in front of his mouth, Jærbuen asked his English teammate to take the penalty, to which Sancho bowed his head and gave Haaland the ball without hesitation for a long time.

In any case, the 20-year-old thanked the confidence waiting for Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer and made it 2-0 in front of more than 9,000 fans at Signal Iduna Park.

Thus, Haaland was already underway in the domestic series.

The situation before the penalty kick prompted Viasport expert Jan Åge Fjørtoft to praise the Manchester United-linked Dortmund jewel.

– I think it says a lot about Sancho, he says after the game.

Haaland himself says the following about the score.

– Show safety in the group, and that’s good. He scored in the last game and today I had a good feeling. It was a good penalty and it was nice to score against Sommer. He tried to get into my head, but he didn’t stand a chance, says Haaland.

I fought to get Haaland involved before the break

However, the Norwegian did not play a great game in the first half, and the hosts struggled for a long time to connect the Norwegian.

Fjørtoft also realized this.

– The big problem for Erling Haaland is that he does not play in the good races he has. I think now there is a problem in the first game in the way they don’t exploit Erling. He starts racing but then he doesn’t play and that frustrated him, Fjørtoft said in the Viasport break studio after watching Sancho and Felix Passlack leave in the last third before break.

Sample contamination

After the break, however, things went better for BVB, and after 78 minutes, Sancho and Haaland were combined in the same way that the fans were spoiled last season.

The hosts burst into attack after a Gladbach corner kick, after which Sancho took the ball over the middle. In the end, he played Haaland at the perfect time, before Jærbuen scored 3-0.

– The question is simply whether we have already seen this year’s counterattack in the first round. As beautiful as what Dortmund does here, it cannot be done. Look at that monster run by Haaland, and the extreme sensitivity of the Sancho pass. It’s an aesthetic delight, simply put, exclaimed Viasport commentator Lars Tjærnås after the score.

All in all, Dortmund took a well-deserved victory, but even after the match, Fjørtoft noted that Lucien Favre’s team has more to do when it comes to utilizing Haaland’s forces in the best possible way.

– When they finally started using it, and I think the third goal is how we should look at it when he bends his back and sets a new world record of 100 meters. So we have to say that they have to use it more in those races, like they did in 3-0, says Fjørtoft.
