Bodø / Glimt celebrated league gold by beating Viking 3-0 on Saturday.

The Danes can really pat themselves on the back – Kasper Junker has scored 27 goals this season, in 25 games, and Philip Zinckernagel is this year’s player in the entire Elite Series.

Junkers’ score gives an average score of an incredible 1.08. In a normal season, he would have been the top scorer in the elite series. This year he is challenged by Kristiansunds Pellegrino, who has 25 goals in 26 games.

No one has scored as many goals in an elite league season in the 2000s as Junker has this year.

– Looks like I will

Now it comes with good news for Glimt fans.

– Looks like I’m staying at Glimt. I have a two year contract and I am happy to be here. That’s what I can say now, Junker tells NRK.

But there is another Danish who is somewhat more insecure. Philip Zinckernagel was named Eliteserien player of the year, but it is not certain that he will stay with the club next season.

He believes he is heading towards club change. His contract expires after this season.

– Honestly, I haven’t decided. But I don’t think the opportunity is great (for him to stay), Zinckernagel tells NRK.

He says a decision will be made soon.

– There are many factors that come into play, but he probably decided in a couple of days, says the Dane, who lives with top scorer Junker.

With 103 goals, Glimt regardless of the record for the number of goals in a season, and the team passed the season without losing points at home: 15 wins and 59-11 on goal score was the final score in Aspmyra.

Sondre Brunstad Fet made it 1-0 in the quarter hour, after an assist from Junker. Then the Dane went 2-0 with a goal scorer in the 21st minute and 3-0 in the ordinary last minute of play.

Glimt finishes this year’s season with 81 points. The average score of 2.7 tells all about what kind of season the yellow jerseys have delivered. Until the second mold there are 19 points. There has only been one loss, Molde won 4-2 on their own turf. All home games are won.

Viking finishes in sixth place, 37 points behind Glimt.

Finished with a party-ready yawn

The war over who will be the top scorer in the elite series is the only competition Bodø / Glimt is involved in where the excitement hasn’t died for a long time.

That was also where the excitement was on Saturday. Glimt had prepared for a golden party at a hotel near Aspmyra. In inclement weather, it wasn’t the country party performance one might expect.

The glimpses were really good in the first place. Then both Philip Zinckernagel, Ulrik Saltnes and several had good chances. And Glimt always scores. The first goal came after a quarter of an hour when Junker put the ball on top and made it easy for Brunstad Fet, who widened it in the goal.

Thus, Glimt became the first team to score in all rounds of the series, as there were 30 teams in the Norwegian elite series.

When Junker went 2-0 after picking up a return and easily shoved the ball into goal five minutes later, he smelled of goal celebration.

But later finals either ended out or were avoided by a good Iven Austbø in the Viking goal.

The second part was a yawn, where the Bodø / Glimt players looked ready for a party. Minutes before full time, Junker woke to life again and rolled on his 27th goal.

How many disappear from Glimt?

For Viking, it was an expected end to a chaotic season that finished in sixth place. The match was Bjarne Berntsen’s last as coach. He failed to renew the confidence of the club’s management to join the 2021 season.

The question is how many of Glimt’s players will join.

There are many best-selling items in the historic gold team. Jens Petter Hauge disappeared in Milan in the middle of the season.

Danes Zinckernagel (with outgoing contract) and Junker, and general midfielder Patrick Berg, are players several clubs are drooling over.

Coach Kjetil Knutsen, mentioned by New York Times reporter Rory Smith as a candidate for the World Coach of the Year award, may also be relevant for new assignments.
