Mold – Bodø / Glimt 4–2

Bodø / Glimt have not lost in Norwegian soccer since December 1, 2019. Molde then celebrated league gold by beating league runner-up Glimt 4-2. That was before the crown hit the world and before Glimt rocked the elite series.

In this year’s season, the team had recorded 18 wins and 2 draws before Saturday’s meeting with Molde. When it first raked, it really did. Four setbacks, all of very simple variety, gave victory to the league runner-up.

Magnus Wolff Eikrem (2), Ohi Omoijuanfo and Eirik Hestad scored the goals that gave Molde victory. Sebastian Tounekti and Vegard Leikvoll Moberg’s goal helped the guests little.

Glimt-Keeper Nikita Khajkin took the blame for two of the goals.

– First of all, I want to apologize for the two goals, it is my responsibility and I disappointed my team. But it will make me stronger, Khajkin told Dplay.

Good thing someone finally hit Glimt

Glimt remains a huge gold favorite and leads the elite series with 16 points. But an undefeated season, as Rosenborg did in 2010, will not be. RBK is the only team to have managed it since 1963.

– We had good control in the first half, and we took it after the break. But when we get four, it seems that we have more desire to defend ourselves. We scored four goals, so it’s not bad at all. So it was good to put the cabinet in place a bit, said Molde’s coach, Erling Moe.

– It’s really good that someone finally beat Glimt. It was a good start to the fall season. We have to be at that level here beyond the game, Eikrem said.

Took the initiative

Sebastian Tounekti admitted that he gave Glimt the lead with a clever finish from 16 meters after half an hour, but that was one of the last things Glimt had to cheer on.

Clumsy defensive play, goalkeeper mistakes and mistakes made the goals go in. First, Magnus Wolff tied Eikrem immediately after Glimt’s goal. Molde’s profile has scored better goals. Glimt’s players never managed to clear the ball, and Eikrem was tricked into scoring on a Glimt defender who was on the goal line.

Just before the break, Glimt’s defenders went back to sleep. No one noticed that the pass against Eikrem went over the midfielder, and only with the goalkeeper, Ohi Omoijuanfo was able to easily make it 2-1.

It seems that Bodø / Glimt is better trained than Molde. Here is the explanation.

Two goalkeeper mistakes in five minutes

– We let in for easy goals, Glimt’s coach Kjetil Knutsen complained to Dplay during the break. He was probably even more frustrated when the match started again.

Minutes were played when Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Khajkin passed the ball directly to Eirik Hestad, who made it 3-1. And it was going to get worse. When Eikrem fired a very medium shot five minutes later, Khajkin let the ball slide under his body and go straight into the goal.

Bodø / Glimt started a small final sprint to embellish the performance, but even Vegard Leikvoll Moberg’s return goal after a big attack from Glimt failed to save points.

Glimt fans probably didn’t like seeing that Brede Moe had to leave the field with an injury after an hour of play.

Next Sunday, a home game against Mjøndalen awaits the league leader. It should provide a good opportunity to quickly get back on the winning track against the second worst team in the series.
