The fire service has no control over a fire in an apartment block in Kongsberg. Everyone in the block and in the neighboring block have been evacuated.
Everyone living in the burning block has been evacuated, operations manager Marianne Mørk tells VG shortly before 9 pm.
The fire started in the basement of the block, which has 42 apartments.
There are 48 people who have an address registered in the block. The operations manager doesn’t have figures on how many people have been evacuated, but says they are all out.
At 11 pm, the police report on Twitter that the neighboring block has also been evacuated.
– There are 44 people with a registered address, but there may be more or less, says Mørk.
No people were injured, but someone may have inhaled some smoke.
Ask the neighbors to close the windows
So far it has not been possible to get to where it is burning. The fire service is working to cool the area to get there.
– The fire service still has no control and is still working on the extinction, says Mørk.
It’s too early to say anything about the cause of the fire, according to Mørk.
Police are asking local residents to keep windows and doors closed.
