The fire chief is not sure how to interpret Bismar Acosta’s reaction, but he rejects racism.
Brann confirmed Tuesday that Acosta was given a written warning after the Costa Rican midfielder refused to attend the match when the club was visited by Haugesund this weekend.
Sports manager Rune Soltvedt also announced that Acosta will not be allowed to train with the first team in the future.
On Tuesday night, Acosta posted a statement on his private Instagram account about what he calls a “complicated situation.”
– The worst thing about this is that they will always see you as the villain of the film, writes Acosta.

The central also writes, among other things, that everyone deserves the same respect “regardless of skin color and where you come from.”
For BA, Acosta’s agent, José Luis Rodríguez, rejects that the flyer feels exposed to racism.
– Difficult to interpret
Sports director Soltvedt thinks it is difficult to understand what Acosta is saying, but he is also clear that he is not familiar with any racism at Brann.
-In this case here, it is about sports and I have never experienced in my time at the club that racism has been something that has been in Brann, Soltvedt tells Nettavisen.
He says that he himself is not on social networks, but that he knows that Acosta has shared a statement on Instagram.
– I find it difficult to interpret what he writes and thinks, explains Soltvedt.

The sports manager clearly thinks the situation is sad, but thinks it was entirely appropriate for Brann to react as he did when Acosta did not want to attend the game.
– This was something he decided for himself. They took him out in a combat squad and he didn’t want to keep quiet, says Soltvedt.
– A great man
The sporting director is not sure how the club will resolve the situation in the future.
– A reaction had to come. Then you finish that reaction at some point and then we have to figure it out from there. Whether it happens in a day or two, or over several days, it is difficult to answer at this point. But not showing up for a game obviously leads to a reaction. We have to go back to when things get back to normal, says Soltvedt.
– Do you think we will see Bismar Acosta again in the field for Brann?
– The starting point is that you have a contract that expires in September 2021. With that in mind, it is clearly possible. I am very clear that Bismar is a great man who has performed very well in Norwegian football in all the years. You have done a stupid thing in this case, but it is important to distinguish it. Action does not define you as a person. He’s a very good guy. “It is important for me to say that,” concludes the sports manager.
