After just under eight months in the position, the head of infection control, Karina Koller Løland, has resigned.

This is confirmed by the acting director of the agency Anne-Lise Hornæs to VG.

– It is true that he has resigned from his position. We will now announce the position, and if there is a period between your last day of work and a new infection control doctor enters the position, we are working on an alternative solution in the form of a constitution, says Hornæs.

According to Bergensavisen, who first reported the case, she has had the job since March, but has worked as a deputy municipal chief physician since 2013.

– During the pandemic, I have never been placed in a place in the organization that allows me to do my job efficiently. It has been a challenge, and then it is difficult to have overall professional responsibility for infection control in the Bergen municipality, Løland tells BA.

According to BA, Løland has never been a member of the most intimate crisis staff.

Hornæs appears on the job while the agency director is on vacation. Therefore, he does not have in-depth knowledge of the situation, nor will he comment on Koller Løland’s statement to Bergensavisen.

– I am not familiar with the case, so I cannot answer that.
