(iTromsø / VG) After a 20-hour bidding round, the old, dilapidated house was sold for NOK 1.95 million.
It was in mid-October that Gunnar Trondsen (88) decided to sell what was once his childhood home. The old dilapidated house at Vestregata 71 was put up for sale for NOK 1.9 million.
The house, which was built in 1885, is 61 square meters. Today it does not have a shower, doors, toilet or floor and, in other words, it urgently needs a reform.
After a 20 hour bidding round, the house was sold this week for NOK 1.95 million, NOK 50,000 above the appraised value.
It was in Tromsø that the case was first mentioned.
The bidding round itself began Wednesday afternoon and ended at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
– The first offer was for 1.2 million crowns also marked the offers, says Børge Martinussen, real estate agent at VG’s Eie Eiendom.
Only four interested parties presented offers, but according to the real estate company, 55 people expressed their interest.
– What was a bit unusual in this house was that there were many who expressed interest and followed the bidding round. There are usually ten pieces, says Martinussen.
Happy house seller
He emphasizes that he has experienced similar interest before, but not as of late.
– What made this house attractive was probably a combination of many people excited about old houses and seeing the value in being able to renovate and get a nice house.
Martinussen may also reveal that the seller of the house is very satisfied.
– They had the expectation that it would come out for a price of around two million, so they were not surprised and that was also what they expected, he says.
– Who bought the house?
– He is a relatively young individual who is going to reform the house and, as I understand it, he is also concerned about getting a nice house, he says.
