Record turnout is expected when the American people answer the following questions: Do you want Joe Biden or Donald Trump as president?
Many now fear an unresolved election result that could degenerate into street fights, chaos and lengthy trials to declare a winner.
On the way to Election Day, President Donald Trump receives some advice from his former chief strategist Steve Bannon.
And the advice he gives is exactly what Democrats fear Trump will do: declare an early victory before early votes are counted.
– Road to victory
In an interview with Fox Business, Bannon says Trump should take control tonight.
– For the good of the nation, Trump must set the framework for how this election will be decided and what will happen in the coming days. You have to do it from the White House between 10 pm and 11 pm (Norwegian time 6-7 on Wednesday morning). Then you will be at the forefront of the count and on your way to victory, says Bannon in the Fox interview.
Bannon introduced Trump’s campaign strategy in 2016, but was fired shortly after Trump took office.
The controversial former Breitbart boss was described as the “mastermind” behind Trump’s election victory recently and has clear thoughts on what Trump should do when he speaks to the American people early tomorrow morning Norwegian time.
Bannon thinks Trump should have the confidence to declare on election night that he has won himself election day.
– Trump must tell the nation that he has received the most votes on Election Day. That he has won the most important states and that he is ahead at the national level. We cannot let this end in chaos, as the Democratic Party wants, warns Bannon, who believes that Trump in that way can prevent the country from being plunged into chaos.
– I fear the Democratic Party will abuse the judiciary (“lawfare”) with the support of its allies on social and established media. Democratic groups will also take to the streets to protest, something they are actively encouraging so far, Bannon said.
Trump was visiting the Republican National Committee today in Arlington, just outside of Washington. There he again questioned the ballots that will be counted in the days after the elections, as Bannon points out.
– It must have a date, and the date is November 3. We have a right to know who wins on Election Day, Trump said, according to NTB.
– The stupidest thing I’ve ever seen
Bannon refers, among other things, to what Pennsylvania State Attorney General Josh Shapiro said MSNBC yesterday, where he states that all votes will be counted.
– This election does not end until all legal votes have been counted, Shapiro said in the interview, warning that someone, Trump, will declare victory too soon.
Attorney Bob Bauer, who works for the Biden campaign, used even stronger words about what Trump could possibly do to stop the counting of votes in the tipped states.
– They can only try to stop the count in Pennsylvania, they have no chance of something like that. All votes will be counted. If they try, they will fail and it will be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen in my life, says Bauer.
“All verifiable votes must be counted, we are a democracy, but they must be legal according to all applicable rules,” Bannon said, referring to Shapiro.
– Very brave and tough
There is a discussion in Pennsylvania about how late ballots can be mailed to count in the election. There may also be similar discussions in other key states.
– Trump must be very brave and tough tonight. It will not allow democracies to create uncertainty about the vote count. Trump will not accept having his election robbed with dirty games, fights in the judiciary or street protests, Bannon says.
There is a record turnout in the presidential elections with more than 100 million early votes even before the polling stations opened today.
The fear of what will happen after the election is alive in both camps, but it is strongest among Biden’s supporters.
According to an AP-NORC poll, reproduced by NTB, 72 percent of Biden supporters are concerned about the election against 61 percent of Trump voters.
Biden leads magnificently in national opinion polls, but is much more even in crucial tip states. According to analytics website FiveThirtyEight, Biden has a 90 percent chance of victory, while Trump has a poor 10 percent.
