(Tottenham 2-1 Brighton) Gareth Bale (31) put VAR in the shadows and sent Tottenham into second place in the Premier League with a nice header.

Bale entered the 1-1 position and had only been on the field for three minutes when he scored the winning goal from seven meters in the 73rd minute of play.

It is Tottenham’s first goal from the Welshman since May 19, 2013, when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Sunderland in the final round of the 2012/2013 Premier League season.

Bale went to Real Madrid the same summer, but returned to Tottenham this fall on loan from the great Spanish club.

With the 2-1 victory, Tottenham are now in second place in the Premier League, two points behind the league leaders Liverpool. It is especially striker who has impressed, and with 18 goals he is the highest scoring team after seven rounds of the series.

– Obviously it’s a brilliant feeling. I just wanted to go out on the field and do some work for the team. When you’re on the bench, you want to get in and influence the game. I came in, I worked for the team and I was lucky to score a goal, so I’m very happy, says Bale in an interview with Sky Sports.

While Tottenham have not lost in the Premier League since the first round, Brighton had not won since the second round almost a month and a half ago.

Tottenham started better and had already created a couple of chances before scoring the first goal of the game.

Judge Graham Scott gave a free throw for the first time after Adam Lallana nearly collided with Kane’s back, but after a VAR check, Kane was found to be within the 16-meter area. The Tottenham captain was the safety himself from the penalty spot and put the home team ahead after 13 minutes.

Brighton got better and better in the second half and even claimed a penalty when Leandro Trossard fell to the ground ten minutes later. The forward thought Matt Doherty was holding him back, but neither Scott nor the VAR heard him.

The tie came ten minutes into the second half. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. Brighton finally rolled to right-back Tariq Lamptey, who from 12-13 meters put the ball very well into the far corner.

Højbjerg crashed and the VAR checked the scoreboard for a long time. Scott himself made the trip to see the incident, but concluded that March just got a little touch on the ball.

Tottenham manager José Mourinho would rather not talk about the incident after the game, but said he “missed old football.”

Throughout the round, it was Tottenham who took over again. Lamela hit the post from 25 yards after 68 minutes, and was replaced by Gareth Bale shortly after. After 71 minutes, it was Harry Kane who hit the crossbar, but two minutes later it became an online recognition for the home team.

Sergio Reguilón launched a good chance from the left, but the visiting defense was able to clear the ball. From seven meters he sent the ball well to the nearest corner and decided the game for Tottenham.
