The Oslo District Court has jailed the 15-year-old accused of attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy at Lindeberg in Oslo for a week.
The ruling was issued on Tuesday afternoon. The police had asked for two weeks of custody for the 15-year-old, while the boy himself opposed imprisonment.
The Oslo District Court found that it supported the police opinion that there were good reasons to suspect that the boy had committed an attempted murder, but only kept police custody for one week for the accused youths.
– We listen to what the court says and we take note of it. It was not in any way unexpected, so we are working on what we are going to do, and then we will have to go back and ask for an extension if necessary, police lawyer Kari Kirkhorn tells NTB after the prison meeting ended.

Reflection time
The 15-year-old appeared, visibly marked by seriousness, in court with his defender, lawyer Bjørn Rudjord. He took time to reflect on the ruling.
– Now we will talk together and we can appeal the decision. 15-year-olds shouldn’t be incarcerated unless absolutely necessary, and we don’t think that’s the case here, says attorney Bjørn Rudjord after the incarceration meeting.
– He has explained himself about the case and what he has done, says Rudjord.

The court hearing took place behind closed doors, with a representative of the media present in the small courtroom on the ground floor of the Oslo courthouse. In addition, the parents of the 15-year-old and an employee of the child welfare service were in the district in question.
14-year-old police believe the 15-year-old tried to kill and suffered serious stab wounds during a fight at Lindeberg in Oslo on Monday morning. He was later found on a bus in the center of Furuset and taken to Ullevål hospital where he was operated on. He’s out of the woods Tuesday.
The two boys must have met before.
Youth in questioning
The 15-year-old was questioned by police on Monday night. Because the defendant is so young, the police cannot request more than two weeks of custody at a time. Therefore, young offenders cannot be placed in ordinary prisons either, but in the special juvenile prison of the Prison and Probation Service in Eidsvoll.
Several young people, many under the age of 16, were present when the assassination attempt took place. The police investigation is in its infancy and many interrogations of them may have information of interest to the investigation.
– In serious cases, it is the case that minors under 16 must be questioned through the so-called facilitated interrogation, explains police lawyer Kari Kirkhorn.
A search of the area was carried out in search of the weapon said to be used, but police will not comment on whether any finds were made during this search.
