American football stars get lost in court

The players decided to sue their own union about a year ago. They believed they had a claim of NOK 615 million and noted the lack of principles of equal pay.

The judge was not on the same line.

The United States women’s team has long been a world leader and won the World Cup last year. They have also won three of the last four Olympics.

“We are shocked and disappointed,” a spokesman for the players said when the ruling was made public.

Some other minor points in the claim have not been finalized. This will happen in the summer. The players have also decided to appeal the decision on the salary requirement.

The lawsuit against the United States Soccer Federation was filed on March 8 of Women’s Day last year. The players sued on charges of institutional gender discrimination, including through different salaries for players on national teams for men and women.

The claim for damages has been established through calculations made by a consulting firm on behalf of the players behind the lawsuit.

According to Megan Rapinoe, who was named world player of the year last year, one of the union’s representatives in previous wage negotiations argued that “the realities of the market are such that women do not deserve the same salary as men.”

Rapinoe said this a few months before the trial began.

– We will never stop fighting for equality, she tweeted after defeat in the courtroom.
