President Donald Trump has posted on Twitter what will be a joint statement between Israel and Bahrain, where they agree to establish full diplomatic relations.
– This is a historic advance for peace in the Middle East, says in the statement that Trump has posted on Twitter.
Several news agencies report that Israel and Bahrain have reached a diplomatic agreement. This will involve, among other things, that countries establish embassies and ambassadors among themselves.
The AP news agency writes that Bahrain now recognizes Israel.
Donald Trump wrote on Twitter late Friday that “our two good friends Israel and Bahrain have agreed to a peace agreement.”
The agreement stipulates that the countries will normalize relations with each other and should not be seen as a peace agreement.
The deal comes a month after Israel and the United Arab Emirates agreed to normalize their relationship.
According to Trump, Bahrain accepted an invitation to go to the White House on September 15 to sign a “historic declaration of peace” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the United Arab Emirates.
According to The New York Times, the Israel-Bahrain deal has been largely negotiated by Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner.
The newspaper also writes that the agreement is another sign that the dynamics in the Middle East are changing, with the Arab countries moving closer to Israel with the consequence that the Palestinians become more isolated.
Bahrain becomes Israel’s fourth agreement with an Arab country, after the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Jordan.
The small kingdom of Baharin has about 780 square kilometers and 1.5 million inhabitants.
