BODØ / GARDERMOEN (VG) Bodø / Glimt dreamed of celebrating league gold at home on Sunday night. With a break from the national team, the moment was also optimal to be able to celebrate a little, but not for Patrick Berg (22) and Marius Lode (27).
– It was really perfect, Patrick Berg smiled after the game.
Glimt’s midfield presenter knew that a morning flight was waiting for him to transport him from Bodø to the national team meeting in Oslo. After the match, he was also informed that his teammate Marius Lode had been selected for the national team.

– It would have been very special to come straight from a gold celebration to attend their first meeting. It was a minor misfortune when it first became what it was, says Marius Lode as he waits for his luggage at Gardermoen.

Patrick Berg was substituted 4-0. Then only 13 minutes of ordinary time remained, but the teammates further embellished the result. It’s only the second time this season that he’s been taken off the field, but in the gloomy, stormy weather in Aspmyra, he didn’t complain that he had been taken away.
Third player of the national team
From the locker room he saw that Molde drew 2-2 in the 89th minute of play. A defeat for Molde would secure the gold, while a draw would postpone the Gold Festival.
– Events manager Ørjan Heldal was on his way with some boxes of goodies but almost had to turn in the door when he heard it was 2-2. It turned out the way it did and I live very well with that, says Berg.
He thinks it says a lot for Bodø / Glimt that Marius Lode is the club’s third player to have a chance on the national team this season. With two national team matches on your CV, you can also give your traveling companion some good advice.
– I have brought with me a packing list at least. I’ve brought boxers, a toiletry bag, and soccer shoes, so I’m “fine,” says Lode.

While Patrick Berg can pick up a suitcase decorated with the logo of the national team and the initials ‘PB’, Marius Lode still has a Diadora bag from Bodø / Glimt.
– I’ve been a little nervous about whether there should be something like things for the first time, but now luckily I have someone I can ask about that. They have assured me that it is not, he adds.
ON THE MOVE: Marius Lode and Patrick Berg felt better than the Aalesund players as intermediaries in Oslo.
Berg has played for all age-specific national teams, but is still waiting for his first few minutes for the A team.
– It’s definitely a speech if you debut. We haven’t planned anything. We have to move on.
Marius Lode is now reunited with his old friend from Bryne, Erling Braut Haaland, who himself had a great performance for his teammates at Borussia Dortmund in his first preseason with the club.
– A lot was offered there. In that case, I would have had to take a Backstreet Boys song out of a cabaret show I had many years ago or whatever it became, laughs Lode.
