Long-time alpine expert Kjetil André Aamodt (49) leaves NRK and reports a transfer to the owner of TV 3, NENT. But first he will record the second season of “Family Honor” for NRK.

– Yes, there will be a recording of “Family honor” in June. Then we’ll see how it goes further, Aamodt tells VG after he introduced himself on Friday as an alpine expert for the new winter sports investment for Viaplay and NENT channels, which now takes over the rights that NRK previously held.

“Family honor” is a television program in which well-known athletes and their sons and daughters, who are or have made careers in Norwegian and international sports, compete together against other families.

– I saw alpine on TV first. Then I drove for many years. And now I have talked about alpine skiing for many years at NRK. When the rights changed, I joined the NENT group. It’s fun to be where it happens, says Kjetil André Aamodt.

– Now NENT gets long transmission surfaces with winter sports, and for us in the alpine it is good to lean on cross-country skiing, which is so popular in Norway. For this reason, large surfaces suit us well.

– What else do you do during the day?

– I’m the president of the Huk football club! There will be mainly television and conferences and local sports in Bygdøy.

Expert commentator Marius Arnesen also moves from NRK to NENT.

– They are two brilliant communicators and professionals who have contributed knowledge, good humor and a lot of energy in the comments, analysis and storytelling, says Torbjørn Sarre-Jensen, editor-in-chief of NRK sport.

– It’s a shame that now they choose to end us.

NENT will take over much of the winter sports television rights starting in the fall.

Kristian Oma, Norwegian sports manager for NENT, does not want to comment on the information and refers to a press conference on NENT’s winter investment at 1pm.

Kjetil André Aamodt has not responded to VG’s inquiries.

Aamodt has worked as an alpine expert since he retired in 2007. He has been primarily on NRK screens since then, but has also been regularly associated with Discovery and its Olympic broadcasts.

NENT, which is the parent company of channels such as TV3, TV6, TV4 and Viaplay, has secured in recent years a series of exclusive sports rights.

In 2019, it became known that the media house, among other things, will take over the rights to the NRK winter sports, such as the Alpine Skiing World Cup, Cross Country Skiing, Ski Jumping, Combined, Snowboarding, freestyle and freestyle skiing. They have also secured the Hockey World Cup.

Last year, it also emerged that the television group hijacked TV 2’s Premier League rights after the 2021/22 season.
