(Real Madrid 2-3 Shakhtar Donetsk) Shakhtar Donetsk surprised and led Real Madrid with three goals at half-time. Then the Ukrainian team had to fight with picks and claws to secure the points.
Shakhtar Donetsk beat Real Madrid 3-2 in what can certainly be classified as a wild football match. On the first day of the Champions League group, the Ukrainians won three points against the Spanish giant.
– It’s a horrible time. We showed at least a little fighting spirit in the second half. The players are upset. It is my job to find the solution, because we cannot have this type of game, says Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, according to UEFA.
But that was all that happened. One minute and 30 seconds into extra time, Federico Valverde scored a goal and the Spanish team cheered enthusiastically for securing a point against Shakhtar Donetsk. But then a small message appeared in the judge’s ear.
Vinicius Junior was offside and blocked the view of Shakhtar goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. Thus, the goal was disallowed and then Shakhtar took a very surprising and resounding victory over Real Madrid.
– It’s a fantastic result for us. We knew what difficulties we were going to face and set the plan accordingly. The players did everything absolutely fantastic. “We were a united team from the first to the last minute of play,” says Shakhtar coach Luis Castro after the game.
The result is also more surprising considering that Shakhtar Donetsk in the two weeks prior to the deal had ten players with positive corona tests. Coach Luis Castro told Marca two days before the match that they had to send more players to Madrid who had just taken the negative tests that left them available.
Ukraine’s visiting team had little ball in the opening minutes against Real Madrid, but it was highly toxic when it first entered the attack. So toxic that it was a bit of a 0-3 shock when teams were in the middle of the game. Tete and Manor Solomon each had their own goal and Raphaël Varane was unlucky and hit the ball into his own goal during the first half.
And the three goals came in a window that lasted 13 minutes. Tete opened the ball in the 29th minute, and just four minutes later Varane shoved the ball into his own net. At 42 minutes, the first scorer of the match, Tete, released the ball to Salomon, who completed the humiliation in the first 45 minutes.
GAIN: Shakhtar Donetsk beat Real Madrid 3-2 on Wednesday night.
In the second half, he turned around completely. Zinédine Zidane put Karim Benzema in at half-time, but it was not him who got it right from the beginning in the second half. Luka Modric scored a 30-meter free kick in the 54th minute of the game.
– We knew that Sjakthar was a good team and we did not underestimate them. We looked better after the break, but we are not happy, says Modric.
And a few minutes later, Zidane intervened in Vinicius Junior. This change should be ingenious. 14 seconds later, Vinicius sent the ball into goal after catching it high up on the field. Thus, the scoreboard marked 2-3 at 59 minutes. That result was also fulfilled when Federico Valverde’s goal was annulled.
During the 93 minutes that were played, in addition to the five goals, an incredible number of chances were created. Both teams could end up with more goals, and especially Shakhtar burned several great scoring chances.
