In a new interview, the well-known “60 minute” profile Lesley Stahl (78) reveals that she has been infected with the coronavirus. The 78-year-old actress has been reporting for the CBS-broadcast news show since 1991, and became a celebrity when she covered the Watergate scandal in the 1970s.
Stahl revealed the news in the Sunday episode of “60 Minutes” on CBS. The 78-year-old woman says, among other things, that she felt ill for weeks before she finally entered the hospital.
The famous journalist is now fully recovered from the corona virus, and says she was greeted by talented healthcare professionals when she was hospitalized.
– After two weeks at home in bed, weak, very scared and fighting pneumonia, I went to the hospital, says Stahl, and continues:
– There I witnessed an overworked staff. Each of them was kind, understanding, gentle and caring from the moment I arrived until a few days later the health professionals helped me. In the face of so much death, they celebrate the triumphs.
The journalist also thanks the health personnel for being completely healthy today.
– This brave army in coats and masks didn’t just do a job. They completed a mission [ …]. Thanks to them, me and many other patients, we are doing well now. Tonight, we owe them all our gratitude, our admiration, and in some cases, our lives, says more.
Different symptoms
The 78-year-old man also says that several others in the production were infected and that a colleague from the “60 Minutes” editorial team also had a coronary infection, with almost no symptoms.
– Others had all the symptoms you can imagine. Each case is different, Stahl says.
The 78-year-old became one of the most acclaimed and experienced television journalists in the United States, and has worked for the “60 Minutes” news program for more than three decades. She spent most of her career on CBS, where in 1971 she started as a producer.
Stahl has also been a White House news correspondent under Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush.
She married writer and journalist Aaron Latham in 1977, with whom she also has a daughter.
