The sports equipment chain aims to cut costs and now cut the head office staff in Norway by 45 employees, accounting for around 20 percent of the employees in the head office and corporate function. This is stated in a company listing on Tuesday morning.

XXL has started similar processes at its headquarters in Sweden and Finland.

– It is not an easy decision to make, and we are grateful for the good dialogue and understanding of our employee representatives. We want to ensure an open and fair process and support all those affected, says the new head of XXL, Pål Wibe, in the message.

– I would like to express my gratitude to all XXL employees for their efforts and efforts during these difficult times, but market conditions oblige us to reduce the cost base. We believe the new organizational structure will lay the foundation for a stronger and more efficient company in the coming years, says Wibe.

XXL press contact Marte Ramuz Eriksen says management is unable to comment at this time as they are busy briefing employees on the downsizing.

XXL’s share price gets a boost after the reduction announcement and has risen 3.91 percent for the day to NOK 9.56.
