It has not been known for a long time if Erling Braut Haaland (20) can play the World Cup tie against Gibraltar. Now NFF believes there are good reasons to hope he can play the game.

NFF has received positive quarantine news for players living in Germany and France.

– Last night something unexpected happened when the United Kingdom (and therefore Gibraltar) was removed from Germany’s list of countries due to “various concerns”, that is, countries with mandatory entry quarantine without exception for professional players. This means that the foundation has completely changed and we have been given new opportunities, NFF elite director Lise Klaveness tells VG.

– Can it be expected now that all players will be available in all three games?

– We can’t know. There are different rules locally, but we have gained greater faith that we can at least include some of them.

Quarantine rules in several countries have created problems for the national team.

The national team coach, Ståle Solbakken, risks having to do without the likes of Erling Braut Haaland and Alexander Sørloth in the deal against Gibraltar, because German clubs want to prevent players from being quarantined when they return home.

NFF wants quarantine exceptions for national team players.

– We continue to depend on the exceptions of the entry quarantine of the various local health authorities in the various areas in which we have players, but we consider this change as a great advance in terms of at least bringing some of the German players to the first match , she adds.

NFF is in direct dialogue with all the different clubs on this today. Mats Møller Dæhli, Rune Almenning Jarstein and Julian Ryerson are other players on the Germany-based national team.

– It has been very uncertain if we have players from French clubs (Birger Meling and Ruben Gabrielsen) for the first and last games. Now it seems to be working as French authorities have just confirmed exceptions to the quarantine for foreign players in Ligue 1, says Klaveness.

P.S! Germany will play their home games in Duisburg, which is in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, the same region as Borussia Dortmund. It is precisely this exception that gives the NFF hope of including Erling Braut Haaland in the match against Gibraltar. .
