Starting next season, the logo of the American car brand Chevrolet will no longer adorn Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men’s suits. Instead, tech company TeamViewer becomes the Red Devils’ new costume sponsor.
According to the English press, the agreement will be the largest sponsorship agreement concluded during the pandemic and will be worth NOK 2.8 billion spread over five years.
Several English newspapers cover the case and express astonishment at the large sum.
The reason for astonishment?
The empty stands have caused a drop in ticket revenue and football clubs are struggling financially. United has previously stated that it lost about $ 1.4 billion last year, compared to the year before.
Additionally, several large companies closed their wallets and refused to avoid major new endorsement deals amid the pandemic.
Therefore, British financial experts describe the deal as a bargain for Ed Woodward and Manchester United.
– Manchester United have not been as good as they used to be. So I was hoping they’d have to settle for a worse deal now, but getting a deal as good as the one they got from Chevrolet is extraordinary, Sheffield Hallam University finance professor Rob Wilson tells the Daily Mail.
The new deal will likely be useful for Ole Gunnar Solskjær and the rest of the Manchester club.

Chevrolet has been a costume sponsor and car sponsor for the Red Devils for seven years. Now the club is also looking for a new car deal, as the deal with the American car brand has now ended.
German software company TeamViewer has grown big during the pandemic and will be clearly visible to Norwegian soccer fans for the next five years.
The company will be only the sixth company to have its logo on United kits. In the past, Sharp, Vodafone, AIG, AON and Chevrolet have been the sponsors of the club’s kit.
