“Master of the Masters” winner Aksel Lund Svindal imagines a life with family and children – VG

– It was not important to win “Master of the Masters”, but it was fun, says Svindal.

– Very funny!

He says the bloodshed nearly broke him and former handball player Håvard Tvedten (42) in the final.

– We cheered and cheered on each other along the way – “made one of us win.” We are competitive people and we are all keen on competition. There were tough competitors and I had endured losing too.

In private, he was encouraged by his girlfriend Amalie Iuel (26), one of the most important hurdles in Norway.

– She is a fan of “Master of the Masters”. He has had several seasons with her. Before I even joined, says Svindal.

The 38-year-old admits that she was one of the few who knew that he won the NRK program.

– I had to keep it a bit updated along the way. But she promised to keep the secret.

On May 17 of last year, Aksel Lund Svindal confirmed to VG that the two are lovers. A few weeks later, he opened up a bit more about the relationship on the “Must Be Treated” podcast with comedian Morten Ramm.

– We met at the Top Sports Center. We chat a bit, then we take each other. Then you meet, then you have dinner. It’s a cliche story, said Svindal, who said they first met in 2019.

To VG, he reveals that they still do not live together.

– We do not live together, but we are very close, says Svindal.

The couple has no children. But they are still the “parents” of the dog Molly, who is of the Italian Lagotto breed.

– I love dogs and have wanted one for a long time. But it hasn’t been possible for me until now, says Aksel.

After making his World Cup debut in October 2001, Aksel Lund Svindal won 36 individual victories and the overall cup in 2007 and 2009. He also took home two Olympic golds, one silver and one bronze. At the World Cup, there were five gold medals, one silver and two bronze. And now also winner of the “Masters of the Masters” 2021.

Thus, he became the twelfth athlete in history to be adorned with the coveted television title.

– This is a show that airs in winter, it’s a time of year when I’ve always been on the go. Therefore, he did not know much about the concept. But when I sat down and looked a little more at what “Master of Masters” really is, I decided to say yes. I want to be part of this.

With a total of more than 1.5 million viewers on average per. This year’s season episode of “Masters of the Masters” has realized how well the show works.

– Everyone looks at the «Master of Masters». Seven-year-olds, older than 75 years. Everyone enjoys. There are so many good values ​​in a show like this. I have received messages from people I have not heard from in many years. People who didn’t make a lot of noise, even when I won big championships. But “Master of Masters”, they have followed him.

He also doesn’t hide the fact that he also thought he was good with three weeks of recording almost in isolation.

– I have been in the media for so many years and I had a lot of attention around me. It’s good to let it go once in a while, says Svindal.

He himself is happy that he spent more time with his girlfriend during the pandemic.

– We are not partners, Amalie and I. But we’ve been together a lot. It’s been nice and now we know each other much better than if we had been traveling the world, says Svindal.

On New Year’s Eve, he posted this image to his Instagram account where he wrote, among other things: “With a home office and no travel on the show, I’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of time with Amalie. Let me continue.”

– Can you imagine a life with family and children?

– Yes. But I can’t imagine what it’s like until I actually experience it.

After putting alpine skis on the shelf in spring 2019, Svindal makes a living from his own investments. According to Dagens Næringsliv, his investment company will be worth more than NOK 130 million. He lives in a house in Snarøya, on the outskirts of Oslo, with an underground tunnel to the mooring. I am a Porsche ambassador and I drive one of the most expensive electric sports cars on the market.

– Everyday life is now characterized by meetings and video conferencing from the home office. Days go by fast and I think I do a lot of things. I enjoy working from home. But things take time to do a good job. But you shouldn’t just sit at home and work. Sometimes I get in the car and drive to Kvitfjell. Then I can work from there in the morning and then go skiing.

In Kvitfjell, Aksel Lund Svindal, according to Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen, has secured one of the most beautiful view plots, but his new cabin is not yet installed. Meanwhile, he uses his father’s cabin in the same area, and he is there often.

– I liked the weekend concept. Before, the weekend meant competition and work. Now I can just travel to the mountains, ski and have fun.
