Crown pregnant: – The pregnant mother said she was dying

On January 5 of this year, little Florence came into the world in dramatic circumstances, and two months in advance.

His mother, Elsa Larkins, 34, had severe coronary heart disease and the baby in her womb was squeezing her lungs, making it difficult for her to breathe.

– I remember telling one of the nurses that I was dying. That bothered her. He went home crying that night. It was difficult for her, Elsa tells Sky News.

Put in a coma

On January 5, Elsa was taken to the intensive care unit and then placed in an artificial coma. Doctors decided to perform a cesarean section, two months before the term, and asked her husband Tommy Larkins to prepare for the worst.

– It was a situation that threatened his life and that of the child. It was frightening. The scariest thing I’ve ever experienced, he previously told Sky News.

– I was terrified. Actually, the baby was supposed to be born in March. Perform a cesarean section and potentially have a corona infected child. It was terrible, he says.

pulled apart

Fortunately, it went well.

Florenze weighed only 1.4 kg when he was born and required respiratory support for the first few weeks.

Her mother Elsa finally woke up from her coma and the first thing she thought about was her daughter, whom she hadn’t seen yet.

She asked to see her, but was not allowed.

– It was very, very hard. They answered “tomorrow”, “tomorrow”, “tomorrow”, because I asked them every day. The answer was always “tomorrow,” because I didn’t get better, Elsa tells Sky News.

– Amazing to see

But thinking about the boy gave her the strength she needed to improve, she says, and last week they met for the first time.

– It was amazing to see how small and fragile it is. There are no words. We didn’t plan it that way, says the mother.

For Dagbladet, Tommy Larkins has previously told him that it has been a very difficult time, but that both mother and daughter are fine.

– I go out with the story to warn others, now that the infection has gotten very bad here in the UK, he explains.

The name Florence has a special meaning and is a tribute to the nurses and doctors who saved the lives of mother and daughter.

– Few cases

Intensive care nurse Gags Sekhon previously confirmed to Sky News that Larkins was very ill when she arrived at the hospital.

– He had great difficulty breathing. I think it has to do with the fact that I was very pregnant. The large pregnant belly pressed against the lungs. With covid in her lungs, she had trouble breathing before, and then there was extra pressure when the baby pressed, said the nurse, who said they have few cases of pregnant women with severe coronary heart disease.

Much of the UK is closed to prevent the collapse of the health care system. The country is hard hit by the mutation of the virus, which has also been detected in Nordre Follo, and which has led to strict measures in much of Norway.
